Ali C
I aint gonna reccomend any actual components, but I will say that after a few years of using stiffer 31.8mm clamp, I am wanting to go smaller, I miss the extra flex it gives, makes the bike rider a bit livlier I recken. just somthing you might wanna consider? Dan-Walker
does it make that much difference ??? dan
Ali C
I recken so.....kinda like having your tyres at a lower pressiur, but not quite.
Bionic Balls
but 31.8 is considerably stronger if you buy the right bars.... tend to be more options in the trials world too...for 31.8 adam
Urpedigreechumdog
I have a similar opinion to ali c. I also found that wide risers don't really go well on a streety bike, unless you cut them down. So i'm gonna suggest either: Cut down zoo's on the echo stem OR Easton ea50's on either an Easton Vice stem or an Azonic ORS stem. <-- All can be found on CRC
b'mouth trials
Hey. I ride a 26" revell and i run zoo bars with 100mm echo stem, rides really nice. I had raceface diabolus bars and a 90mm dies stem before that, also very nice, nice and streety if thats what you want. I have the raceface bars and stem for sale if your interested. Cheers, Aaron. Bendee
zoo bars are just fantastic such a nice bar and they give plenty enough flex more than any normal sized bar ive had in the past, plus they will last, has anyone actually broken a set yet? ive allways found the echo stems up to the job aswell cant go wrong with the set up youve chose. nb88
Onza carbon fibre bars are lush if youve got the money (£50). Im using tryall bars at the moment and theyre OK, bit too wide and low though. Got some answer pro taper bars on ebay atm: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 need a respray if your worried about colour, but are sound condition. Dan-Walker
Yep, Aaron Cosbey just recently snapped a set. how long did he have the bars for ? How much does changing your bar and stem affect you and your riding ? If i got some new bars and a stem i should adapt to them shouldent i, if so how long ? Tomm
How much does changing your bar and stem affect you and your riding ? Lots. It's the easiest thing to change that will totally transform the way the bike rides. But it might make a difference for the better, or worse. But yeah of course you will get used to it. What are you running at the moment?

Dan-Walker
what do u think then ? dan
Tomm
Depends what you ride really. If you ride mainly spinny streety stuff, get some nice high risers (2.5" is nice) and a short-ish stem. If you want to ride more trialsy/natural I would probably go with some trials-specific bars like the Onza or Zoo bars, although I've always found them a bit too wide. It's probably nothing you wouldn't get used to though. I never really liked the Try-all bars, they always seemed wrong to me. Too wide, too flat (upsweep/backsweep makes bars more comfortable IMO), and they just broke easily. Monty bars are quite nice - very strong, nice feel and not too wide. But you may like the wider bars, it's minaly a preference thing.

nafan
The echo and zoo set-up looks and sound good, but if you are switching from a high rise then be careful because the front end will feel very low, if you're worried I'd go for an echo hifi (higher rise for lower-front-end frames) Hope this helps, Nathan
Endohopper
Woodman's Wide & Wild TT trials bar is excellent , 730mm wide , light and not too flexy . Comes in black only , though .
Dan-Walker
i thought the woodman bars were weak according to a lot of people.
