hey,

i have 2 questions,

1) if you run ffw, does it make it longer till the pedal engages or the same time or quiker engagements?

and

2) if i have bought a select bikes welded freewheel, will it explode or come off or loosen or any off those bad things that every one always talks about?

thanks

steve.

i loved ffw! i miss it have it over king anyday!

imo i feel that you can actually feel the engagement better (might just be me) but if i had the chance i would change back! but wouldn't want to lose money lol

i run my ffw on mod and stock and rarely had troubles with it both acs claws lasted me ages! the first was perfect didn't (ever) skip unless coming loose and i had that for over a year!

i run a welded freewheel for a while once it has bedded in its fine the only obvious problem is you cannot service it if it gets dodgy but for the price replacing once every 6months or so wont break the bank!

oggy

i think it does engage quicker osmehow dont really no why but imo it feels alot nicer, and if you get a welded one just replace it everynow and again as ben said

Yeah I think it engages quicker too  Don't know why but I guess the slackness of the chain doesn't need to be taken up for it to engage at the freewheel...oh i don't know

the welded ACS from phil is much better than the normal ones. Having said that get an eno or the tensile freewheel (when it comes out) because Im sure you will appreciate them more :S Nowt wrong with an acs mind, itsj ust they're much better :P

If anything, it'd engage slower. Think about it: with an ACS up front, you have 36 engagement points at the pedals. With a Profile on the rear with the same ratio, you have 72 engagement points.

Either way, I still dig FFW. I'd never use an ACS Claw ever again even if someone threatened to kill me if I didn't, but hey - that's life.

Eno for the win and all that.

Because you're not running a 1:1 gear ratio.

If the freewheel's at the back, then the fact you're using a 1:1.5 ratio means that the back wheel will move one a half times per full rotation of the cranks. This means more engagement points "at the pedals".

I mean slower relative to rear freewheel (the common example of ACS FFW vs. Profile hub).

You'll tear the shit out of your trousers more often.

ACS's feel a bit poop.

That's pretty much it, I guess. Nah, I suppose ACS's aren't that bad, but it's the same as going from a King to a Deore or something. There's just a difference in quality between the Claw and the Eno, basically.

But yeah, good call changing
