I was wondering if anybody could help me fix my disc brake. i`ve had it for about a month now and just recently it has started to rub. I think that it could be the pad`s sticking or that the rotor is bent im not sure. Does anybody have any sugestions on what the problem might be.

thanks tomo

Well first spin the wheel to see if its the rotors bent or if its only rubbing. if the rotors bent straighten it, using a clean adjustable spanner. If its only rubbing then you may need to adjust the spacing of the calpier, using little washers. The best way is just to experiment with the washers. put one in at a time to see if it makes a difference. Oh have u gt a cable or hydrolic. If its hydrolic take the wheel out and using a CLEAN screwdriver gently push the pads back in to the caliper. If it still rubs you will have to ask someone else. Sorry. Good luck anyway. :S

rotors only tend to warp when subjected to extremes of heat, as in trials you dont tend to drag the break at high speed then not much heat builds up.

the way i set up my mini's on my other bike is to put summat round the lever to make the brake lock in place, then take the mounting bolts out and adjust the amount of washers to fill the gap between the calliper and the frame mounts. when you think youve got this right dot he mouting bolts back up and the calliper should be centralised over the rotor. check that your pads are wearing straight as if the calliper was mounted properly to start then they wont hit the rotor evenly. to sort this just use a fine file or emery cloth.

hope this helps, it works for me

cheers

That's not a bad idea. I might have to remember that. Zip tie should hold the lever on nicely.
