James_Porter
...with gloves, was riding yesturday and fork me it was cold on the sea front at porthcawl, i couldnt feel my fingers and i just couldnt use me brakes propper. so i need some advice on good gloves. i brought some cheap dakine ones at nass as i hadnt used gloves in years so thought i would have a go again. but they are propper horrid, they bunch up in the palm and i seem to get arm pump when i wear them :S also find using my brakes with them is hard, ie i cant grip the lever very well and it just feels like my finger is going to slip off the lever. i just wanna know what peoples views are on good gloves, im thinking i need quite tight/elasticy ones? if you can get them like that? so they dont bunch up at the palm. and also how long do gloves normally last people. i remember back in the day, like 2.5-3 years ago i had some blue fox ones which i rode till they were well passed it, ie no fingers etc and i think they were about 5-6 months old but im not to sure. so what are people opinions on gloves to get... specialized? fox? 661? i dunno what else... thanks James :P

Waynio
porter, there are alot of gloves that iv seen coming through this year in the shop that are quite thin but windproof which is the main thing that gets on you nerves when riding getting warm is easy its keeping them warm when riding around it can get kool with the breeze.im going to look into some for phil too in the morning and some for myself too, but i had the same prob 2nite when i stopped riding and was packing up to go home my fingers were froze and dropping off, when i felt i could do with some "windproof" gloves to stop me getting chilled. will let you know of some good ones tomoz, but im sure altura do a couple of sets also seal skinz too. may look crap but if they stop you getting cold then who cares. haha Waynio......................... Ali C
ohh, wind proof sounds good, as long as they ar still nice and thin (not like those winter waterproof gloves that are FAAAAT) My gloves are dead, so let us know about those wind proofs and I will probably get some :S Also Mr Porter, if you get some gloves, make sure they arnt tight around your wrist, a looser fit will reduce the arm pump you got. Waynio
now then a couple of links below to products that i have tried on this morning and they feel as though for a winter style glove. would be ok for trials if you are willing to give up a lil bit of fatness in the gloves for the gloves to be warmer etc etc. there is also one pair that is windproof BUT are quite thick BUT not as thick as some gloves. links are here: Altura Micro Fleece gloves Altura Strada Gloves Altura Thermastretch Gloves The thermastretch ones are a bit thicker and quite chunky BUT are the ones that would be the best if your willing to give up a bit of thickness on the bars for the comfort and warmth, the strada and micro fleece would be good for keeping warm and are nice and thin still. see what you think. im probably going to carry on using the gloves i use unless it gets to -5/6 and it gets to a stage where i AM frozen. Rich Pearson
61 rajis's James. Tight and elasticy, super comfortable, and they're pretty good at keeping your hands warm; was riding dartmoor the other which was about 1 degrees celcius early in the morning, and as soon as I put the Raji's on my hands warmed up a treat. Waynio
iv been using a mixture of 661 Raji's and Thor AC gloves, the Raji's are great cos there thin but you do get a chill through them when its EXTREME coldness but it never stops me riding, i keep myself moving and doing stuff so i dont get cold and my fingers dont freeze over. the thor ones are a bit thicker again but still nice and comfortable but too loose around the wrist and the coldness gets in. if you think about how cold it is you will always be quite cold, if you get riding and move and blow warm air onto your fingers as soon as your warm keep moving and you wont be cold. the more you think about it the more your going to be cold. its one of those "mind over matter" things. if your thinking it you will get it, if you aint you wont" so if your thinking about being cold or the weather being cold your going to be cold. think hot things. like hot girls dancing around with not much on, you'll soon warm up. i just think of madonna sliding up and down the radio in her new song :S ye baby!!!! that gets me warm and keeps me warm. shovel
yup, troy lee xc gloves are real good, not very bulky so you get a good feel but still keep the hands warm or if you really want good feel of the bike then troy lee air gloves although they won't keep the hands as warm
