Shaun H
16, 5'11", ride an Onza T-Rex, about 1080 wheelbase. Feel perfectly comfortable on it. You'll get a bunch of people post soon telling you height doesn't matter when talking of bike size but in my opinion that's complete bullshit. I let my brother on it the other day who's quite a bit shorter than me and he looked a complete tit on it, much too big for him. I would think a 1040 bike would be fine for you though, it'll take you a while to get used to it though, and you might have some trouble throwing it around for a while but eventually it should all come together :S

sUm
Hehe other end of the spectrum here; 6' 3, 1050 wb. I suppose it's a little short, but there's pros and cons to both long and short wheelbases. I'd say as long as you're comfortable on it don't worry about it. Sorry forgot to mention I'm riding stock, it's a planet x tibo. Edited November 18, 2005 by sUm
Luke Drewery
6ft 2" and a quarter to be exact, I ride a 1080 t-rex. By christmas time (just after) I should have a 1100 Czar though. :S

street trials rider
19 years old, 6ft 1".... riding a 1000 wheelbased Curtis :P :S wheel base is just a prefeence for your style of riding... i like street so i chose a short W/B bike just think about what you really want ot be using the bike for, then decide on wheelbase
spode@thinkbikes
there's pros and cons to both long and short wheelbases. I'd sure like to hear them! Everyone is harping on about longer wheel bases. My frame is on it's way out and I need a replacement. Choosing one is a painful experience! shovel
i'm about 6'2" and i used to ride a giant martin hawyes until start of the summer when i changed to a toxsin #1 my legs used to get so abused on the handlebars doing taps and gaps etc, just too cramped toxsin feels perfect though :S
fairy elephants
I'm 6ft2, and i have just sold a 1020wb leeson, i loved it, i could ride it fairly well, but it started to give me back ache in the upper back where it made me hunch. I'm now riding a saracen m-a-d which is a 1055 wheelbase, although i have not measured it. It seems a nice length, but its only a stand in untill i get my 1085 toxsin. although the toxsin is a fair bit longer than the saracen, it will be run with a shorter stem, and it also has a bb rise, which will probably make it feel a similar length. What you need to do is experiment, ride other peoples bikes and see what you like. Short bikes tend to be better for buny hops, and spinny things due to them being more flicky. where as long bike are generally better for doing big up's and gaps etc... If you are un-sure then go for something inbetween. a 1040 koxx will probably be quite a good choice, because at the moment, you should find that its very nice and stable, and as you grow you will be able to chuck it about pretty easily :S
Waynio
im 5ft 7 and ride a 1085 Koxx Kenny Belaey and it feels ok, but you just notice with a shorter bike its twitchier and is able to be thrown around alot more. iv ridden an 1100 levelboss and felt it was great for most things but it was hard in some respect as the bike really does maul small people, a 1040 is best option mate you've deffo got the right idea if your 5ft 2 and on a 1040. its what you get used to but if its your first stock and you had jumped in to a 1100 or sumit it could have put you off stock. each to their own really its what your comfortable with, but someone 5ft upto say 8/9 will look odd and quite out of shape on a frame that is 1100 long, as if you stand the bike on the back wheel it will actually be loads bigger than you!!!! haha.my 1085 is still bigger than me but its not stupidly bigger, you can more see in the person (riders) posture being stood over or actually in the riding of the bike. MrMonkey
6'2, 6'3ish, I ride a BT Raven 5.0 I think it's goin on for a 1100 wheelbase. Not exactly sure, doesn't feel uncomfortable.
skandy32
6ft 2" odd and im on a zebdi 1030 settup. feels nice to me, but as people have said, its all about your riding style and what you want to use the bike for. Taller people might find it easier to ride a long stock bike, but anyone could surely get used to it. Go for something in between like people have said. 1030 - 1050. andy :S
Tom Booth
Im 6 foot f and on a t-rex with a 1090 wb, but im running a 120mm stem, at the end of the day its not all down to the wheelbase, the bb rise and stem dictate a big part in it.
