Tony Harrison
I turned on my i-pod (30Gb Photo model) and it did this thing (which my old 2nd gen 10Gb did) where it continuously skips through all the songs in a playlist without playing them. Then I left it to let the battery die, as usually it resets itself and is ok. This time, I plugged it into the computer, but it didn't recognise it. The battery was flat so I charged it, but now all it does is show the Apple logo with a lit-up screen, and won't do anything else, not even turn off. So I let the battery go flat again and don't know what to do. My warranty means I can get a free instant replacement, but there's data I want to remove from it. Nothing particularly personal or incriminating, but I just want to clear it anyway before I return it. Any ideas? I know this is a bike forum, but I've tried i-pod forums and they're generally rubbish.

Tony Harrison
Thanks. Seems ok though, plugged it in to the power and it's come back to life. Going to format it and update the software and next time it f**ks up I'll get it swapped for a video one - are they out yet in Dixons? Tomm
Thanks. Seems ok though, plugged it in to the power and it's come back to life. Going to format it and update the software and next time it f**ks up I'll get it swapped for a video one - are they out yet in Dixons? They are on the website as in stock. And I know that Dixons were getting the new Powerbooks (released at the same time as the new iPod) in yesterday/today, so I would have thought the iPods would come in the same shipment. Dai the Socket
Hi-Tec, an Apple shop in Bradford (Not an Apple Apple shop, just a reseller) has the new iPods in so.... My iPod Nano's with 'em 'cos they were gonna send it off to Apple to get fixed, cos the screen has cracked and it won't work, and it's got 3 small dents on the back, then 1 massive one from being sat on I think, on the side. It's not pretty. But they can't, 'cos Apple will charge 'em £150 to fix it, however If I send it back, then I might get it fixed free so they say. Meh. mr ailsbury
its where you have unplugged it from the computer without ejecting it in itunes, thats what was wrong with mine anyways, you just have to delete all the songs off it and put 'em back on :D
Tony Harrison
Did you store porn on your ipod? :D :P Might have been a bit on there... I backed my laptop up on it. Just got letters, work stuff, addresses, bank account details, cookie files containing usernames and passwords. I'm just careful about that kind of stuff. Alexx
When I formatted my computer I just wiped my ipod and filled it to the brim with porn, then the f**ker wouldn't turn on for some reason, I was like 'arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg'. Though it started working again a few minuites later (Y)
