JT!
The avid mechanical discs are the best cable disc. Nothing even comes close to them. They can be more powerful than hydraulics, but most people buy them becuase they are the best value of money, and they are fully ajustable. Some hydraulic discs have to ajustment at all! Russertron
Enougth said really smo. Avid are the best mechanical disc for price / preformance. Bigger disc size the better. I run a 190mm Hope trials disc and love it. So much power!
Simpson
yea definatly avid with a big disk as stated its still personal preference like V's and Maggies but ave push an pull factors
guineasmithpig
avid mechanical with 203mm disc. may i recommend using an SD... (single digit) lever also, as these have adjustment to set the ferocity of the disc, making them almost infinitely adjustable for modulation and power (which is supplied in abundance with the 203mm!) just make sure u got some strong-ass forks! love my avid to bits. just hope it doesn't tear my fattys in half again! smithy

ian
shimano=shitmano. i used to have an avid on my vinco in a 203mm rotor and it was the tits, on my new bike im going to get myself another avid but this time a 185, but it does depend alot on what cable an lever you are using. i was using a cheap cable but with alot of grease on it and a sram 5.0 lever and it had so much power and alot of modulation, ask "the_ferret" he has my vinco now and ask him how much power and modulation it has and me nor him have had any problems.
