miket-raptorman
does anyone know what the difference between these two cranksets? because there the same price but one is quite alot lighter Tensile UCI Crankset http://tartybikes.co.uk/image.php?image=te...pairmidbash.jpg Tensile Crankset with Bashguard http://tartybikes.co.uk/image.php?image=tensilesteelbash.jpg
Simpson
AT A GUESS! it is because in UCI comp. your not allowed to use you bash or crank arms to balence on so they make it really diddy and drill hole in the bash to reduce the weight wereas in the other style B@@ summink you are allowed to use arms and your bash
the_ferret
one has a huge bash made of cheese meaning you squash it for biu comps the other for uci has a tiny bash but is stronger( i ididnt understand that bit) pissin_on_the_fence got it but go for the uci bash (smaller silver bash) because there so much better oggy
Simpson
yea Ben i hope its stronger because i just broght your set! becasue the ring is smaller it may take more abuse becase the compactness reduces the chance of breaking or denting i guess *awaits correction*

Simpson
Smaller will always be stronger if made out of the same material same thickness etc. think of snapping pencils ova your head do it with a long pencil it smaps really easiy because the bonds are weaker in the longer tubing and the leverage of the metal either side of the pressure point will cause it to snap, a small pencil is really hard to do as it is a smaller target and the bonds alothough the same streghth will be harder to break! lankyri
the black bash eg flowers one or the one that u get on the orbita cranks are crap and the design on it is crap the uci cranks eg the ferrets now simpsons seem to be better but i do believe that these cranks are made for natural use only as it says on tartybikes, if you really want a decent crank that wont let you down that you can use for street and natural are middleburns......... but whats this i hear uci cranks have a smaller bash well hears my answer middleburns super pro :P

monkey gav
i'm pretty sure that the crank arms are different material or a different size. there either alu for the uci and steel for the biu or the biu ones are 175mm and the uci are 170 not sure but thats my theorey Gavyn (Y)
Zoo_Monkey
TENSILE UCI = front freewheel with a choice of 16t or 18t bash guard TENSILE crank-set with bash guard = 5 bolt spider for standard front chain ring they are beautiful cranks - i love them (i run the UCI on my T-PRO) however i don't like the new echo cranks (Y) sure they look good in the pics but how long will that finish last then they will look (as i have said before) as scabby as a Pikey on an Apollo get the tensiles you wont regret it (Y)
Mark W
Damn straight. Tensiles sex me up. The bashguard'd Tensiles though aren't the spider ones; they have a big alu+steel black and silver bashring which the chainring bolts onto. You can get them with spiders though to run the massive gearing of your choice though (Y)

miket-raptorman
I might sound dumb but what is a front freewheel?
monkey gav
a front freewheel is where the freewheel is attached to crank arm and a fixed chain ring is attached to the rear hub therefore when the wheel spins the chain spins forward too. Gavyn
