BobbyD
ive had water in my rear brake since i got the bike, recently bled them to maggy oil and it felt disgusting. more sponge, the brake wasnt as smooth as water and it didnt have as much power. i prefer water anyway (Y)
Impacted. I've had both and I didn't really notice a difference other than the lever returned a bit faster.
Rob_P
Water is quite blatlently the best, i've got a mate who swears by maggy oil or sus oil. He put it in my brake once and it was w*nk!! He swears by it and everyone tells him to bleed it with water but o no he wont listen, yet I have an amazing working and feeling brake while his feels like sh**e, and he wonders why. Do it with water, try and get a compressor if you can and before you bleed it flush all the crap out with it. Rob (Y)
nb88
I use water, its better in every way really....ive only had 1 maggie to ever leak with a water bleed, that was about a year ago. Lever returns faster, as do the pads so you get no sticky pistons usually. Easier to pull, easier to bleed (Y)

Rob_P
LBS'S dont know shit about stuff like that, normally i've found, they fix bikes in general rather than specifially knowing about trials bikes. A mate got his brake bled at a lbs and the tard didnt screw the tpa out, retard. Then he had to go and show him how to do it :shifty: Tool! This may not be the case for all bike shops obviously cus there are some good ones but in my experiece there useless. (Y) DIY

shovel
personally i prefer to use magura royal blood, pretty much cause i can get it free at work  but also i really like the feel of it and wouldn't want to change to water after 5 years although supposedly you can get different weights of mineral oil with magura blood being quite heavy, if you ever pull the lever on a new shimano brake they feel a bit quicker because the shimano mineral oil is a bit thinner, would like to experiment with that some time and see what its like. . . . Mark W
personally i prefer to use magura royal blood, pretty much cause i can get it free at work  Yeah, I've got a sponsorship deal where I can get water for free at work AND at home too  But yeah, I've bled it with Venhill Hy-Performance oil at the moment. I pulled the lever 2 days ago. It'll return soon. So yeah, water all the way (with a dash of anti-freeze 'cos of this time of year 'n' all as well...). PaRtZ
What happens if it drops to below 0 and water is in a magura?
Heatsink
If you're keen to use a thin oil that won't harm the internals then Baby oil is worth a try - It's pure mineral oil, 1/10 the price per litre of buying Magura rebranded stuff and with the advantage of being purchasable in any highstreet shop such as Boots. Has a pleasant smell too, unlike the Magura stuff. In my keenness to avoid being ripped off on a Magura bleed kit I've just bulk bought some syringes, tube and fittings. If anyone wants a cool little bleed kit at a cheap price - I should be able to help  Steve
tipsy Jock
What happens if it drops to below 0 and water is in a magura?  Wait and see  Oh and i wouldn't ride Ogwen for a while with it like that lol Water is the way of the future, theres no better bleeding kit than a bath full of water Edited November 14, 2005 by tipsy Jock
