spode@thinkbikes
I've always been impressed whenver I've needed something replaced by Hope, but this is just crazy. The ratchet on my Hope XC hub recently screwed up. I asked wether it was still covered under warranty. They didn't ask for any proof of purchase or how old the hub was (to be honest I don't know either). They just said, send it in. I sent it in on either Monday or Tuesday and recieved it back today (Thursday). Not only had they replaced the ratchet, pores and springs, but they had used some top quality grease as well. They even noticed that my hope titanium skewer was bent and replaced that! I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced the axle too. The wheel looks great and I'm a very happy bunny indeed! Krisboats
I bought my hope xc off of someone on t-f and when i got it and looked inside the springs were broken and the axle looked like it had received a mawling from a file and had little notches on the freehub from the single speed kit, so i sent it off to tartybikes and they built my rim up onto it for me and they sent it straight to hope for me so that hope could put a new ratchet in as well. when i got it back they had replaced everything except the hubshell... and by everything i mean even the little coloured end cap that covers the bearings and the silver one on the drive side. They even used blue grease to match my blue hubshell. (N) And of course it was all done for free, with a little thank you note in the box. I certainly think i will be sticking with my hope for a long time, or at least until i have some spare cash after the new hope pro II t comes out. street trials rider
nother hope story *gather round children (N) * bought a Hope XC off my mate for £25... after about a year i mangaged to break.... 4 out of 6 disk tabs, snapped the axle, 2 cracks in the spoke flange, and the freehub was mashed to hell... on the way back from a road trip to porthcawl we stopped off at the hope HQ and i asked if there was anything that could be done about this hub, idealy i wanted a blue mono shell instead of a black XC...so I handed it to 1 of the guys to have a look at and asses *he walks off, comes back 5 mins later* "Sorry we dont have any blue mono's, is a black ok?"..... to which i replyed yeah black is ok, and he walks off again, i'm expecting them to just replace the hub shell for me, he comes back few mins later with a full BRAND SPANKING NEW mono.... FOR FREE!.... "there you go, take care, see you later" TOP QUALITY SERVICE!! (Y) HOPE

street trials rider
axles are really easy to take out, and they wont really replace them if its a minor thing from what i've picked up from friends if you do decide to send the wheel to them, take off whatever isnt required (tyre, tube, rimtape ,cassette, QR) to save on postage costs they may charge you for return postage, bets thing to do is just phone them up on 01282 851 200 and talk to them, see what they say
Endohopper
As I understand it , Hope actually PREFER to recieve complete wheel , as opposed to just the hub itself .
spode@thinkbikes
They told me to send the whole wheel, not just the hub. I left the disc and skewer on (mainly just to show I'm a hope guy, and hoped they might treat me a little better). I expect having a wheel around it makes it easier to manage and harder to lose.. The last time I sent a wheel to them, they sent the wheel back with a brand new hub in the box. That was kind of annoying because I had to rebuild the wheel. But I've had a titanium bottom bracket replaced twice and a few snapped rotors too. I think their stuff IS good quality. Trials knackers it, because trials knackers everything. You have to expect to replace this stuff, it's not a cheap sport.
Waynio
full wheels usually as if the ratchet has gone in the hub they have to sort of put a tool inside and heat the hub up so that they can get the old ratchet out, it makes sense really, but they literally cant get a ratchet out of a hub when its on its own :turned: :P but hey for the bit of postage you pay for sending a wheel you get your wheel from a state of un use to full working. Rob_P
ANOTHER hope bumming story :P A while back before selling my front mono disk to Edd P I thought it was only a good idea to get it sent to hpe to get it chekced over as it had been sat in my garage for ages doing nothing. Sent it back and included a little letter and got it back within a few days with new pads, new bleed and new caliper, I think they gave me a new disk as well! :P :) Then last week I sent my wheel to them with my nearly 3 year old mono on and asked if they could take a look at it as the rachet was fecked, so yeh I only asked about the rachet. I sent it on the wednesday afternoon (£8 postage) and got it back on the monday morning with a brand new rachet, shim, internals and freehub body!! :) :) What amazing service, they've saved me alot of money, as if i'd had to pay for new parts it would of been expencive! My hub has been packed with some grease and it's basically silent :) Stealth bike Top stuff!!!!! Rob :turned: :D
