Fishy
Hey, if anyone went on the halloween Birmingham ride, then you might know whats wrong with it, its pathetic, you can pull the lever all the way to the bar, and it still doesn't lock, i think it needs rebleeding though, but i am really unsure... cheers by the way, it was on a second hand bike, and its a red magura...if that helps
ollie
it could be one of a few things, the most likeley to be that you have air in the system and you need to bleed the brake.Or you could need some new pads, what are you running?, or you could need to move the slave cylinders (i think), well the bits that hold the pads, closer to the rim or the last thing you could try a standard maggie booster, there only a tenna and it made my front brake better, (i have one if you want it? my msn is in my addi) that will make your brake lock better. so i hope i have help, ollie oh and one more thing, you could just need to turn the TPA to the "+" and that will move the pads closer to the rim without taking the brake off your bike Edited November 7, 2005 by ollie
ian
get a bleed and get some decent pads in it and set it up good end of story really
Mark W
Well... Pull the lever a little, whilst looking at the pads. Do the pads move at all? If not, it sounds like you've got air in the system. Also, if it feels squishy when you pull the brake on, you've most likely got air in there. If so, bleed the minx. It never hurts to clean your rim with Muck-off/some other bike specific cleaner (or meths :(), and clean the surface of your pads with either a rough brick wall or some sand-paper. But it just sounds like you need a bleed. If moving the TPA doesn't do anything, it's broken, which might affect the brake too. Check out the TPA Repair post in the FAQ section of Trials Chat. Onza Kieron
Bleed it, it will 80% need a new bleed if its second hand, if that dont work, move the pistons closer, if that doesnt work, check for leak, if that dont work, buy new pads and clean rim, if that dont work buy a vee or disc as maggies suck on the front. :( Kieron (Y)

mackey
it probably needs a bleed i recommend you bleed it with water it gives it a much quicker response to bleed the brake buy a bleed kit from chainreactioncycles.com it will set you back around 20 pounds then get the syringe and fill it up with water with the hose that comes in the kit on the end then undo the bolt at the slave cylinder it is normally a 5mm allen key bolt and screw the syringe in and tighten with a spanner then go to the lever end of the brake and undo the tiny bolt above where the hose fits into the lever and screw the other bit of pipe into that then make sure your lever is flat and push the syringe and make sure you or someone is holding a cup at the other end to catch all the fluid then when all the water out of the syringe take the non syringe end off of the lever and screw the bolt back in then take the syringe off and put that bolt back in then if you have time do it a couple more times to get a good bleed also have a clean of the slave cyclinders and take all the grime out of there take the pads off i hope this helps you and that you sort your brake out (Y)
