Pc Vs Mac?

Im not going to answer the above because i'll prob say somein wrong and some geek will come in and go no actually I think you'll find theres a massive difference in the electrical current passing through the hydronaptic microchips through the 10gx processer while running blah blah blah.......lol

I much prefur PCs, I use a PC at home and a mac at college, Macs are more designing computers thats wht they have PCs in IT and macs in art + design. I must say I prefur using photoshop on a mac but when editing my media coursework on imovie it constantly kept shuttig down for no reason then having to start again. Very annoying. When you ask it to do something it cant handle it wont stop and think about it, they freeze and just shut down the programm. Well thats what i've found in my experience.

They are alot smaller than a PC, theres no tower, it's all built into one unit which is pretty cool, espically on the new imac widescreens, god there nice!!

But yeh, for general use I find PCs much better!!!! :-

Nice argument Monkey. I would post something but I'm going to have a shower. I'll be back in a bit to see how far this thread has gone downhill.

Well it was a joke, those things that make people laugh, not to be taken seriously. But wait this is serious forum, where cracking a smile is punishable by death.

ok i will tell you.

mac are easier to set up, within getting your computer you could theoretically be surfing the net within 20 minutes. where as a pc takes much longer to set up.

there is a lot more software out for pcs meaning there is a lot more things you can do.

macs are also generally easier to fix but thats because not as much can go wrong as the pc structure is more complicated.

hope i helped

Macs are a lot more simple and reliable for someone that is new to computers as you simply dont get adware problems with them, or virus problems, etc.

however they are no good for gaming.

iMovie is shit, thats why you dont like video editing on a Mac - its like using paint for your design coursework, lol, pathetic. You want final cut express or pro for mac :-

Monkey, that isnt even funny, and its not a case of seriousness or anything, that was completely unnecessary.

haha i thought the random dude laughing was quite funny myself, although i do have a ratehr bland life at the mo.

annnnyway,

as far as i can see, macs are for people who prefer form over function, they would rather have pretty windows and shiney icons, rather than have actual full compatability. If you are good with computers and don't get confused easily, then a mac would be fine, however if you are pretty remedial in the world of computers then a PC is much better. There are loads of tutorials and help everywhere, because basically everyone owns one. Most pc users talk in simple language, where as mac users like to get techy and weird. However, if you wanna go extreme with a PC you can, and fairly easily at that. It's easy to pick up infomation and boost you're knowlegde with no real effort. Everything i know about PC's i learnt from forums and FAQ's no-one taught me anything, and i've built around 5 pc's from scratch with no help from anything but the internet.

Anyway, rambled a bit. To me Mac's are more like specialist machines(a fit girl if you will), you gotta be arsed to deal with them every time you wanna get some use, and your reward is they look nice and don't get ill. However pc's are like you're mum, they will do everything for you and not ask for a lot back, just a bit of maintenance every now and again, they know everything and can do it without you're help, unfortunatly they are a bit bland.

Summary: just get a PC, the Mac novelty will soon wear off.

slightly nicer interface on the mac, with all the palettes seperated and more customisable like... but yeh basically the same. however you cant get final cut on windows... and final cut shits all over premiere, premiere is poo in comparison. macs are more stable too, ive never had a full crash on it - and i was editing 1 file with 12 hours of footage in it all loaded at once, it handled it fine, premiere would have died on that!!

I don't think you could be more wrong really. If you replaced "Windows" for "Mac" in that and vice versa it would make much more sense...

Mac aren't hard to use, they are way easier than PCs. Complete noobs would get on MUCH better with a Mac. And they certainly don't take more maintenance than PCs. Spyware/Adware/Viruses? Not on a Mac. Also you know how Windows goes all shit and slow after about a year, and it's all fixed with a fresh install? Well you don't have to do that on Macs either.

As I've said before, I don't think I would have a Mac as a desktop PC. Yeah, they look REALLY nice on your desk, but once that novelty has worn off, they are just normal PCs. I don't think they are massively overpriced any more, but they certainly aren't as cheap as PCs. What you do get, however, is hardware that is made for the operating system and vice versa. Apple like to say that "it just works", I.e. you plug something in and it works straight away.

My iBook wasn't as fast as my (desktop) PC (Athlon 64 3200+) though. I mean it wasn't lots slower, but it was no speed Demon. Then again laptops are limited by hard drives and ram and stuff and will never be as fast as a desktop anyway. Mac minis are basically the same because they are just laptop hardware in a small box to be put on your desk. But then again you gotta wonder what you're doing and whether you NEED it to be amazingly quick. Does it really matter that Firefox starts up half a second slower than on a PC? My iBook did everything I wanted it to do in a nice small package, fairly cheaply and very reliably. Some times you want to exchange pure speed for something that is really good quality. And Mac OS X has some really nice touches that make you smile and wonder why Windows can't be that good.

With my new Mac. I set-up and connected to the net within 8 minutes, not rushing neither.

Pc's you can upgrade lots. Mac's you can't that much. Macs are easy to fit shit but as Danny'll tell you, so are PC's and their slots and what not.

I prefer Mac's. Most people will perfer PC's 'cos that's all you've ever used, and you haven't properly used a Mac for any length of time as it being your own and not some shitty school's or whatever.

Once you're used to it. I prefer macs.

Stupid topic. It's been done before. Just arguing and stupid comments like Monkeys.

Ive always wondered why people say macs are better for design work, esc

If you can get photoshop, illustrator and other programs on the pc, wont it just be the same as using them on a mac?

Anyone care to explain?

Shizzle works better. Better interfaces, renders stuff quicker usually on Mac's. I found running Illustrator, Photoshop, then Net etc works fine and still has really good output (efficient etc) than doing it on my Mate's PC. It looks a bit too. Dunno, Square and jaggy. The windows won't look as nice neither.

However Dan's new vista thing looks okay I guess. Tryint to copy Os X Loads though. Os X on a 'PC' with an Intel processor. It's happening end of 2006. Should piss all over every PC, as Os X runs 10% more efficiently on a 'slightly' higher specced Previously Windows based thing.

Meh.

Photoshop used to be optimized for Mac, and was ported to PC, so it was faster. So obviously they were btter for graphics.

I run windows, but I wish I didn't. :- I play too many games to have a mac full time, but as soon as I grow out of that, I'll be on a Mac again.
