NeillyB
I've read all of Dan Brown's work and Angels and Demons was by far the best (cooncidentally, it was also his first). Da Vinci Code is a simple book with a simple plot, nothing more than long-distance flight reading material. I read Jeremy Clarkson's "World According To" and it was just shit - a series of newspaper clippings of one twat's personal beliefs should never be made into a book. He should stick to what he's good at - driving fast cars around runways whilst bursting out a varied bunch of tired euphenisms and witticisms. Talking of newspaper clippings into books, kudos to the cool cat who mentioned Bill Bryson. Some of the funniest things I've ever read have came from his books. The guy's a legend. Micheal Crichton is also good. His books always have a seemingly age old premesis (surviving against dinosaurs! A killer outbreak of organisms!) yet they are all adamantly readable due to them being refreshingly well written and not too convoluted. Another book I adore is Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. I shit you not, I nearly cried at one part. It's set in WW1, and some of the scenes are really fantastically written. It's so raw yet refined, so harsh yet subtle. It comes out of nowhere and sucker punches you in the ribs, leaving you reeling after the blow. Classic stuff. I'm currently reading my way through a stonker of a novel - Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It's f**king brilliant, I advise anyone with a passive interest in books to buy it and read it. For the record, I'm not a fag. Edited November 4, 2005 by NeillyB
