The Gym Thread...

I used to bodybuild and I did powerball for giggles when I was at work.. to be honest, powerballing every day halped me get MASSIVE veiny forearms.. they've shrunk down loads since I quit (I had a couple of powerballs which messed up and the warranty was annoying).

But eveyone says minimal reps of max weight for serious body mass gain.. over 5 years of trying different techiniques at gyms I didn't find this, i found I always got the best results when i aimed for 8-12, you only ever get a real good pump (signifying a blood rush to the muscle) after atleast 8 GOOD reps, and after a year and a half of aiming for 12 reps a time I could bench twice my own weight, so I'm sure its not a bad thing

yer thats fair enough I suppose I know a few folk who would be about that.

you've given me a nice target for summer. i'm 68kg just now and can bench about 95-100kg on free weights if i can bench twice my weight i'll be well pleased

im really hopin thats 1 rep max, as otherwise, your pushin some serious weight compared to me (i weigh about 90kg, and bench about 75kg, but thats 10-12 reps)

Also hate, how you can do so much more when you aint been to work, after work im usually pretty tired, so cant get that much done at the gym.

pushed me dumbell bench and incline, to 26kg 12 reps. want to hit 30 kg x 12 asap.

some pretty heavy weights being thrown around the forum

would love to see a short vid of people actually benching what they say....

I might set up a vid soon but there's no way i'm recording my self in the gym so i'd have to wait till i've got my bench set up at home and it's a bit gay and I have theee best gurn when i'm lifting :P

The most I have ever benched is 40kg on a 2kg bar, and that was my maximum 1 rep thingy.

I am about 70kg. :ermm:

Where did you find a 2kg bar fella? A normal olympic bar is 20kg... musy have been a pretty thin bar! or a typo maybe?

Its all about gym threads, lol

your average £50 quid weight set will come with a 2 kg bar I've got a couple of them lying around.

they aren't that thin they're just hollow

do they like even hold a 25kg plate on each side?!

they must flex like fcuk! and surely theyre not very safe...

its like the weight of my laptop :S

nah they don't hold a 25 only up to about 10kg plates on each side i've had 60 on one of them and it didn't bend to much. still i wouldn't trust it for anything more than that.

I wieghed it on my kitchen scales and it was 2kg.

I have had 52.5kg on it, for dead lifting like, it didn't visibly bend but you could feel it bouncing a bit.

If you go to holland and barrett you should be able to get some oil to rub into scar tissue, the name escapes me now, but if you go in and ask they'll know what it is. Make sure you keep moisturised, shower after you train and moisturise, and drink lots of water, and keep your vitamins up. Other than that stretch marks are just one of those things mate... most pro bodybuilders will have them, they just get airbrushed out of shoots. Are you natural?
