Sameer
I joined when I was 11. They sent me a debit card almost immediately (as well as a 'paying in' book). When Chip n Pin came along, they sent me the new chippy debit card right away. I'm now 18 and I haven't ever seen a cheque book despite asking for one twice (two different branches, though...), and although I don't actually need one - it would be nice if they sent me one anyway. What's also gay is the debit card is Solo, which means I can't even buy from Toys r Us if I wanted to. Solo is shite. NatWest are shite, unless you physically go down there and pester them. Danny
I think most banks aim to get it all to you within 7 days but my HSBC one student account took several weeks.

tank_rider
I'm with natwest for my student account and also have an ISA with them, they seem pretty good, nice big overdraft and are pretty good at correcting their mistakes. Anything they have sent to me through the post has come pretty promtply, when i opened an ISA with the a few months back i got all the paperwork through within a week of walking into the branch and filling out the paperwork. Oh no, they agreed to refund me a missed cheque charge (after someone debited from my account that were not authorised to do)! I was waiting so long for this refund I sent them an angry letter. I week later I see there is an item 'Refund charge', - thats good me thinks, but no it has been DEBITED from my account, guy in natwest even admitted is was their mistake and I'm £60 down. Mind you they have all the main features I need: visa card and lots of locations: ticks all the right boxes and I'll get my money back.. some day.
