zoo p
hi i was wondering if anyone else has had any problems when bleeding hope disk brakes, as about a month ago i tried to bleed mine and once i had tightened the bolts there was still a small amount of leakage, but the bolts were as tight as they would go without rounding the heads, in the end i gave up and put some silicone sealer around the cylinder on the lever, but it looks terrible! does anyone have any ideas about how i could fix it without sealing it? has anyone else had a similar problem? also has anyone tried both the hope mono trials disk and the avid bb7, because since i have had the problems the brake has been really inconsistent. and i was thinking of changing to the bb7 but some of your opinions would be a great help cheers , adam Edited October 31, 2005 by zoo p
smelly joe
it does look damn ugly but i think it works pretty well and i see no reason for you to change your front brake. your hope suits your zoo and the feel of the brake and lever is much nicer than that of the avid

matthewholdsworth
if everything is tight then ur seals are gone. dont bodge a hope brake its not worth it they are so good with after care service they would sort your brake out for u! dont over tighten your reservoir bolts or ul ruin the diaphragm and that ruins the brake feel which if u have really tightened these bolts as u say u have then thats what has happened hence the crap feeling of your brake now. ring/email hope and explain whats going on with your brake, it will no doubt be easily sorted, however the silicon sealer wont go down too well with any of the guys there!! the avid cable brake on my mates bike just doesnt feel right to me, and they are far to clumsy looking for my liking. get your hope sorted PROPERLY you wont regret it. take your reservoir cap off, look at your diaphragm, if it looks like this ) (curvey) then u need a new one, if it looks like this | (perfectly flat) its fine
