PaRtZ
ON A FRONT FREEWHEEL ARRANGEMENT: Especially with the chain tight, the bit with the teeth on comes into contact with the lockring and unscrews it because it's the opposite way round to the BMX ?? I just don't get how an acs is on a different way to a bmx. Surely they both engage when turned clockwise? I don't see why ACS just make the lockring slightly smaller so that it doesn't have a chance of touching the outer coggy bit. Obviously it will allow dirt in, but thats a technicality (Y)
mat hudson
because acs's are not designed for trials, thus they are fine for everything else.
poopipe
I just don't get how an acs is on a different way to a bmx. Surely they both engage when turned clockwise? yup - but the FFW is attached to the crank arm not the BB so it has to be flipped over. attaching it to the BB would mean it was the right way up but there's probably a very good reason for not doing that
Mark W
because acs's are not designed for trials, thus they are fine for everything else. They're OK for trials too, 'cept they come undone. I think I was using a pre-raped one...

Mark W
Haven't actually had a chance to test the new one yet... I was riding more BMX, so I said they could find someone else to do it, but the guy I deal with at Onza was away, blah blah blah - long story short, I'm riding trials full-time again now, so I can do it, but our bikeshop's shut so I'm just waiting on a freewheel remover so I can take my Eno off and put the Tensile on. Either way, it's hopefully on the final straight of development now. The engagement is sorted on it, so it's just a case of double checking that it's all durable enough to be sold. This new one should be, it's got a different steel on the inside now so it should be nice 'n' strong Apologies for the waffer pic, but the light's not good 'n' stuff, and flash + shiny = not so good, ime...Anyways, you can see from the pic that the interior is now more ACS like, and 'cept for the lockrings loosening themselves (not a problem with the Tensile), ACS's seem to be strong enough to be used to good effect by a lot of people. Simpson
Was speaking to the bloke whos idea all this was. the idea was to have a non-branded goods so with zoo, echo, onza all of that people dont want to mix. so his idea was used for try all good as well. the idea was to create a reliable good specifically for trials without the use of brand names that could confilct so know one minds mixing echo and try all was his example.(off topic maybe but a good bit of background to how its been named tensile and i know the connection between try all and koxx and that but thought i should just tell you)
TheMunn
So how long do you think before they hit the shops ?
Mark W
Erm, well, I said start of the new year before, so bear that accuracy level in mind Nah, I mean, Mike wanted to get it out mid Feb, but then went with the harder body, and so as soon as I've tested it for a decent length of time it'll be out. Just have to see how it goes, but hopefully this'll be the final prototype
