Boothy
Hi. I got a new phone on Monday and wanted to connect it to my PC using a bluetooth dongle. I went out and spent £30 on a dongle from Phones4u, which I thought was a rip off. When I got home, I plugged the dongle in, and put the cd in. The program installed OK, but won't recognise the dongle, it says 'Insert Bluetooth device' when the device is plugged in. But, when i unplug the dongle, the program says bluetooth device removed, which kinda tells me that it has recognised it. I tried uninstalling the program and re installing it, and installing the program before I put the dongle in, as well as after I put the dongle in, and it still won't work. Any ideas? Cheers
Danny
Do you have windows xp service pack 2 by anychance? There is loads of problems with bluetooth in it. What program/phone is it?
Tomm
You should have followed the instructions the first time and only inserted it when it asked you to. Now you're gonna have to remove everything bluetooth from device manager I think and try again. But like Danny said there are problems with Windows SP2. I tried to follow the instructions correctly, but there were no instructions on it for connecting to a phone, jus for connecting to a stereo headset. deagledaddy
what i did with my cheapo BT dongle I got off good old Ebay for £13 was.... Plug it in Use XP Bluetooth file transfer wizard (think you just need to name you PC perhaps, also you will need to search for devices with your phone I expect, should only have to do this once as you will be able to add it) transfer things to and from my phone succesfully..... I would suspect that you should give it ago without the CD etc. just see if it works with the built in XP software (I know it sounds silly, but it might just work) This is the proof of it working.... a rather grainy pic from my K700i, of this post before i edited it to have a picture within a picture, just for the sake of it... trials_pimp
screw all of that I had the same problem, the programe that comes with it is complete wank. Uninstal everything, and just plug the dongle in, and let windows install the drivers for it. Then just click on the shortcut on the start bar, save your hone as a safe devise and away you go when you want to send from pc to phone, you can right click, sned to, bluetooth device. When you want to send from phone to pc, right click Bluetooth logo in the start bar, and recive file. Then send it. Simple.

I thought 30 quid was expensive, but I live in a shithole still in the dark ages, so technology is a foreign word.

deagledaddy
Interesting I have different things to the above one as well. Could be a service pack issue. I have SP 2 and all updates. Only a real home edition though.
