Extreme_biker0
Why not get a debit card and only buy what you have the money in your account for in the first place? Why spend someone elses money first then pay them at the end of the month? Spend yours straight off. Why not?

I have a cc but keep it locked away elsewhere, use it every now and then as you get better credit ratings etc Edited October 24, 2005 by trialsmad
shaggy
"Just don't be a twat with it, and only spend what you know you can afford to pay at the end of the month" It's not just a case of what you can afford at the end of the month though. One of my cards is a min pymnt of £57ish, I pay back £90. The intrest a month alone is £40ish then you have the insurance which is a further £20ish. So that £60 a month so i am only paying back £30 a month. I started off just thinking i will only use it for emergencies or if its an expensive item. Then not use it until the money is paid back, but that all soon goes out of the window (well it did for me). My problem is i can afford the repayments i am making but, i am then left with just enough to get by on for the rest of the month. So i am in a catch 22 drop the repayments and end up paying off the bill for longer or get it paid back asap. And with an intrest rate of 19% (halifax) it needs to be paid back asap. Anyway just dont do it stay well clear of them. I am regreting it now and my debit is nothing comparied to some people. I meant only buy stuff you can afford to pay off at the end of the month. Like if you know you will have £200 spare in your bank after you get paid then only spend £200 during the month. I thought about getting a card because at the moment i am un-employed untill i start work in two weeks, an dthen it could be another 4 weeks untill i get paid and I need to buy food. CBProductions
This is what everyone seems to say!!! Is there a way I can get one and set a limit on it myself? Im quite good at controlling funds anyways though Just ask yourself .. WHY DO I NEED A CARD? Emergencies are just a case of having money in the bank or some savings account. Expensive items you will probably need to rethink about purchasing them and the consequences of when it goes wrong are lifelong problems, bad credit history can stick. I hope you make what you feel is the right decision. Craig
