Software Help

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with my Azureus client. Whenever it feels like it, it closes itself. This really pisses me off as sometimes I'll leave it running overnight, expecting my download to be done when I wake up. However it'll close 5 minutes after I go to bed.

Is there any kind of software that will run Azureus after it closes? Maybe some kind of scheduler than checks to see if a certain .exe is running, and if not, to start it?

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion but the download speeds I'm getting are appauling. My connection is capable of downloading at ~220-250kb/s but with this I'm getting like 30-50kb/s. I'm using port 6885 and have forwarded the range 6881-6889 on both TCP and UDP so I'm finding it quite hard to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Just a bad torrent? As long as its saying 'network ok' at the bottom all the setup is fine. Wheres the torrent from? The only reason it could be slower is that it doesnt support DHT yet but that isnt a problem as long as the tracker isnt down.

Yeah I did a speed test on my connection and decided to limit my upload speed to 25kb/s. There's a story going round that the more you share, the faster speeds you can download at but personally I think that's bullshit.

Depends who owns the tracker. Some, I know for a fact cap people with low ratios and give better d/l speeds to people with higher ratios. Most don't so, I'm not sure.

Cap your upload speed at about 10k and see if you see an improvement.

If you saturate your upload your download will slow.

Some private trackers (ie ones you have to sign upto) have a ratio system meaning you cant download the latest stuff for a fixed length of time if you have a low ratio. For public sites like torrentspy it doesnt matter.

Yeah, I guess, I don't use many public sites, only when I can't find what I need on private sites.

Is it a laptop? Laptops usually put themselves to sleep after a few minutes I think. Go on start, control panel, power settings. And check that sleep, shut hard disks off etc are all set to "never".

Oh right, I see what you mean. It closes itself even when I'm sat here actively browsing the web or something similar.
