quick_spider
been out for the past couple of months matt :D, im a bit pissed they dont do the bmx hub in pink though (Y) Ben More like years. If you really want a pink bmx on you can swap the hubshells - the classic hubshell is the same as the bmx one. Jon
Urpedigreechumdog
Not new, not 'cool', and if money is going to breast cancer awareness for deffo then that's the only good thing i can say about them.
mat hudson
sorry, didnt know they'd been out that long
James_Porter
well no they have only just started doing it again...so technically matt hudson is right. but ye we knew about pink king stuff last year when they brought them out for a limited time. this year it seems more money is going to be donated to the charity. PaRtZ
Pink is good (Y) I think its a gay them not doing a pink BMX hub :D Ah well, I love my profile ^_^
Janson
aspire sell the pink stuff now, so i'm pretty sure you could sort a deal out with a custom bmx hub... just robbing the shell off a classic hub (if they're the same). SQuiT-man
When I checked this pink Chris King stuff out about a year ago, I seem to remember being disgusted at how little money actually goes towards Breast Cancer charities. I think its something pathetic, like $5 for each hub, and when you are advertising something to look like you paying £200 for a hub will partially be going to a very needy cause, £2.60 going towards charity (if it was $5, I cant really remember) is really disgusting IMO. Simon
$5? Try $2. matching donations from the pretty promotion (about $2 per item sold) 2 f**king dollars? Honestly, whats the point? :)
James_Porter
cause it gets ck advertising...thats what it comes down to i would have thought.
N.Wood
As nice as it is to think that Mr King is doing a good deed etc, anyone who thinks it isn't a marketing ploy is a weapon. He's a businessman, business doesn't occour by giving money away. Having said that, $2 is better than nothing.
andyroo
Heres a bit of food for thought: More men die of breast cancer than women.
SQuiT-man
$2 towards charity.. thats even worse than I remembered! Thats really shameful that they use it as advertisement for CK, as a means of making them look like a well-meaning charitable company. Obviously they are only interested in maximum profit. $2 is near enough £1 per £200 hub, in that case.
munkee
I fail to see what everyone is bitching about... its $2 more than any of you are donating so shut the f**k up.
Phatmike
Another point to notice, they're claiming they're giving an extra $5 to charity per headset or whatever, but they're charging $5 more for them anyway! King have really annoyed me on this one, they said, around Christmas time last year (what a coincidence, they release a new colour, in aid of charity, just as people are buying nice expensive presents...), that this would be a one off production, and they'd never be made again. Then, now, they're just going back on themselves, seems pretty weak to me. Although they're not giving a massive percentage to the charity, it does add up, and how many other bike companies do you see doing things like this? And as a company, King Group are bloody good, I'm not sure how many of you have their catalogues collected from over the years, but throughout they're history, they've continually set a benchmark example of how other companies and factories can operate. As someone said on another forum: First of all, who the hell cares if they're trying to get more sales, IT'S CALLED MARKETING. Now, I may be crazy, but generally I thought people got into business with the intent of making money. The fact that they are even thinking about giving profits away is something you shoud be thankful for. Even if they only sell 3 headsets, thats 3 dollars more than they would have given otherwise. How exactly does giving money to research for a horrible illness, or the care of patients (I'm not to sure what the organization they are giving to does with it) be not helping to solve a problem, or impersonal? Mike.
Davetrials
King are a company they are there to make money and they do a f**king good job.

Brisa
A lot of ACTUAL charities would surprise you in how much they actually give to the cause. King giving $2 is better than nothing at all, products are priced according to cost to manufacture, overheads for example a most likely huge king workshop, exporting costs and staff etc... It's not like Mr King is making all £200 in profit. The hubs use small precisely machined components and the materials must of very good quality for such small mechanical parts to take such a beating... doesn't come cheap! Having a small run of different coloured components also could bump up the price as a small run could mean buying in a smaller quantity of dye and therefore losing any bulk discount with the supplier... uppy goes the price again! Marketing for hubs costs money too... I think we should be happy that a company is giving ANY money to a well worthy charity that me and any others on this forum may need some day (not only women suffer from breast cancer*) Don't see onza/koxx/echo/bt lopping anything of thier profits for any charities... (Y) * covering arse for some "tit" jokes!
