RicH_87
i got halifax too and have done since i was 13, never had any real problems, good service, average interest, good websaver account and great online services. can be a bit arkward sometimes but no more than any other bank, and nothing that a stern letter can't sort. Otherwise Natwest looks quite respectable too, my older brother banks with them, but i can't say from my own experience.
nb88
I use hsbc - right track into study account, with solo card. Not bad, cant complain..good online banking services and most places accept solo.
Haz
I'm with NatWest, purely because they were the only people who did Solo cards when i got mine. They seem good enough for me, I don't know how the interest rates compare, though.

rich4130
There is a bank that offers a free young persons railcard for five years, think its HSBC, look into it, if you use trains a fair bit, its worth a few quid.
ben_travis
There is a bank that offers a free young persons railcard for five years, think its HSBC, look into it, if you use trains a fair bit, its worth a few quid. hsbc were the first company to use that, but no longer do i think, correct me if im wrong, but natwest started it up this year again, but you have to have a student account, for which i think you have to be over 18, the offer was a free railcard or 100£ sterling in your account, im glad i chose the railcard, its paid itself off and the 100£ they offered easily

Dai the Socket
I suggest Intelligent Finance :D It's a part of Halifax, with Full online banking. You can move mone from Jars and stuff, check your money 24/7. Send money over the net really easily etc. Get wages into it and get loads of interest. They're really good. http://www.if.com I think. They definately get my vote (Y)

sfboy
I'm with NatWest, purely because they were the only people who did Solo cards when i got mine. They seem good enough for me, I don't know how the interest rates compare, though. Same for me although i've not had a flawless run with any of them. Nationwide seem to have the most banks in locations convienient to me (opposite where I work) but none on campus for some reason. I would say where you can pay in / take out your money and a decent debit card asre two things which should rank high on your list.
