modrider666
Hi, My FSA platinum pro isis bottom bracket keeps coming loose after a short ride. I can rock the bottom bracket side to side slightly and i can feel the cups rocking. I have taken the bb out and put it back in and tightened it up quite alot :D . any suggestions Threadlock??, (Y) any help would be much appreciated, cheers Peter Edited October 22, 2005 by modrider666
nb88
I wouldnt threadlock it. I use carbon grease on BBs and just do it up tight as fook. Bolt the BB tool down onto the BB and twist it till your arm bleeds, then it shouldnt come loose
dave85
Clean it out properly with some detergent/degreaser/alcohol/whatever, then threadlocker on the threads and put the fixed cup in TIGHT (as in leaning on a 2 foot socket bar). Dont go too mad on the other side cup, cos it can bugger the bearings if too tight. And leave it overnight for the threadlock to set, should be sorted (Y)
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
My BB came loose, ALL the time, (probably cause i dont have any threads left in my frame (Y) ) so i bought a good bottom bracket that would last, and "araldited" it into the frame, and left it for 3 hours... hasnt came loose yet! Janson
Gluing stuff together isn't really the best way to go.... Unless your frame is positively f**ked beyond repair. My BB comes loose ever so often. I just ride it, because I can't be arsed to take the cranks off. It sorts itself out after a few rides. What ever you do DO NOT do the above! ^_^ I used Thread Lock on my BB (The same BB as yours) It's only come loose once in 6 or so months. If you need to take your cranks off at any point then just pour boiling water over your BB and it will soften the Thread Lock. chrishayton
Tighten drive side up 1st ( very tight, use up to about 2 ft extension bar) then tighten up otherside (again very tight) make sure cups are lightly greased so they dont seize, Btw dont tighten so hard you strip the threads
