As far as I know, it's more of an image manipulation/retouching/production software, as opposed to photoshop which is more a drawing/creating program, before anyone says they're the same. Quite how you can say that Microsoft is worse when they don't even make anything like this, I don't know.

because they are cheaper in general than apples and perfect for families, whereas apples Imo are made for a different purpose than a bit of msn and word.

Nothing quite like stereotyping (Y)

I know plenty of people (half my relatives dig the Mac) who just use Macs for word processing, etc.

Although a load of 'em got rid after tehy got f**ked off too muhc with them (Y)

IMO Mac OSX is nicer than WindowsXP for sure. It's just got some really nice features that make it look really nice and easy to use. And it is, anyone could get used to OSX within a day or so, Windows is a lot more complicated. Apparently the PowerPC CPUs that macs use are a bit shit though, when macs start using Intels (next year) they will rock. There are a lot of plusses about macs, I don't see why only 4% of people use them.

yer it was stereo typing but it was my opinion i know that isn't true for every single person but in my opinion for the majority, or just people who have lots of money for a mac. but on the other side of things you can kit out a windows and have it spanking with good performance or have a cheaper older mac for word processing.the post wasn't mean to rattle any bodies scrotum.

They ain't that expensive though - the Mac mini is £360, and would be a great PC for probably 90% of people. The other 10% being gamers. Having said that, most people would be fine with a PC running Linux (free), but people never sell that...

Apples don't have to start, they are a living fruit.

Anyway, everyone uses a PC pretty much, that just to me proves Macs aren't widely loved, but the Mac fan boys are hardcore.

Haha. Hardcore lol. Yeah I think you're right though.

PC's are more for just typical use. Office use, cheap, and can be typed on and do simple stuff easily.

Macs are for people who give a shit about their computer. Unless you want to buy some Alienware PC, and run XP (even though its shit) or x86 (whatever it is for the cross-format Os X) then I'd buy a Mac.

Well. I have, a few. Lol.

This program looks really good. Is it just aimed at people with SLR's? Or will it work with any high resolution or just 'good' Digital Camera?

Looks like a good program to me anyway. It's not like Photoshop, like Tomm said. Photoshop has brushes, layers and shit like that, while being able to add effects to a photo which you'd do for Online or Publicity work, rather than high quality Photographs (Y)

But yeah. I'm happy Tomm's come over to the Mac People here :S OsX Looks, runs, and has a better user-interface than XP in my opinion, while being more stable. If there was a "PC" with Tower and shit, which could run OX X without any problems, and have Firewire, Wireless net, Internal Blue tooth, a decent Graphics, Processor and DDR RAM set-up, costing less than a typical 20" iMac (now around £1300 is it?) then I'd buy one.

Simple as (Y)

Jesus christ, £1300, that's a bum load of money for any type of computer. I am upgrading, well pretty much getting a new computer, it'll cost me about £800, without a monitor, and it'll be pretty much 100% up to date, for running games anyway, Quake 4 might give it a bumming though. But still (Y)

Word. I've got a friend who bought a PC to use specifically for video editing and music editing (really high quality stuff), as well as some light gaming, and his is f**king amazing and came to just under £1K...

Macs are better but pc's are more mainstream always have been always will be but with the new digital fashion coming about people are buying macs mini's just to look good.

I use a Mac g5 for work and shizzle and pc for jus messing about and internet,

microsoft will always be poorer than apple because apple are specialist.

£1199 now I've checked.

I don't like gaming though. What's the point. Sat at a computer playing some shitty games, Urgh. Not my kettle of fish I don't think.

Without a Moniter? I know Apple stuff is overpriced, but It works well, more efficiently with OS X anyway.

If you're into games, even if I was, I'd buy a PC 'cos Mac and PC stuff just isn't cross compatible and you can't get f**k all games for Macs.

I'm not a 'gamer' though. It bores me! That's just me though.

I'm not sure I'm 100% converted just yet. I still have my PC, which I've not used much since I got my iBook. But that might just be 'cos I like the novelty of being on TF whilst simultaneuosly being in the living room watching TV. It's just that Apple laptops are loads better than PC laptops. As for desktops I'm not 100% convinced, but Macs are still really nice.

I'm pretty sure the majority of games that come out, come out on Macs too, it's just a case of looking for it. After having used a PC for the past eight or so years, I was relieved to get a Mac and realise what I was missing out on...

But still, aren't there a lot of topics that just turn into a Mac/PC debate, pretty much anything to do with Apple in a topic and the debate begins...

i dunno why us apple users go on about it so much to be honest, i couldnt give a shit if everyone else wants a mac, hates macs, etc (Y) i just dont understand why anyone with a mac thinks theyre right either, macs are great but they arent for everyone!

anywho it doesnt seem that aperture doesnt anything you cant already do with photoshop anyway... which is why I think its a bit odd that its now a 'pro' apple application. its a glorified version of iphoto, which is a really shit program - pretty much the same, but with some neat graphical effects and a more easy to use slider for some of the adjustments. i cant see how in aperture you can select out the sky from the foreground and change levels for either one... i cant see how having so few big features makes it a pro tool or a contender to photoshop. it seems like a home application for someone that just got an expensive digi slr and doesnt really know what to do with the pictures from it.

very strange.

Macs and alienware's are for people who dont know how to build there own pcs.

OSX86 (the cracked version of osx to run on pcs) is stated to run 20% faster than on mac hardware (Y) and thats with loads of dodgey patches and cracks.

Im happy with my XP here it does what i want it to do without moaning. If i want some eye candy ill just boot into my vista install.
