Todge
My profile hub has just decided to split in two? Is this frequent? Not had much luck with hubs recently ^_^ If anyone has the profile phone number/email at hand, could that please jot it down here. Thanks

AdamR28
Is this frequent? Not on hubs which aren't modified from 110mm spaced axle to 135mm spaced...
Trebor
Not on hubs which aren't modified from 110mm spaced axle to 135mm spaced... I was about to say that, surely you can't be too surprised that it's turned out like that, Todge?
Todge
Do you seriously think that makes that much of a difference though?
CurtisRider
surely his modification would place more stress on the axle rather than the shell?
AdamR28
Do you seriously think that makes that much of a difference though? I'm not sure, but the extra flex can't be a good thing. Theres a fair bit more moment on that part of the hub when extending tha axle. What grade of alloy did you use for the axle? The Profile guys are away til Monday at Backyard Jam btw :P
Todge
It has no axle as such, just those super duper long steel bolts either end. I cant see as that makes a difference as they are so long.
AdamR28
Well the bolts screw into the axle around 25mm each end when using a 110mm spaced frame... so theyre gonna support the axle a lot.
Joe Papasnap Maher
Do you seriously think that makes that much of a difference though? by the looks of it todge..yes :P
dave33
i expect its because their is loads more stress on the hub shell because you have build it to a mtb rim, not the longer axle, the fact that the axels longer will allow it to flex more than a shoter axle :P
hulltrialser
just checked my profile after i heard a creak and mines cracked there too :- Ben
SQuiT-man
Thatll be the cue for everybody to go out and check their profile hubs now. I would have thought Todge's would be down to two reasons- building a stock rim onto the hub would put a lot more stress onto it because of the leverage of the forces being further out- it should aso experience more force than a regular stock hub, too, because the flanges would be closer together..? Also, with less of the heavy duty bolts screwed into each end, and a wider with, theres gunna be more flex put through the hub shell. Weird that hulltrialser's profile has busted in the same way though, I take it you were running it on a mod? Hadnt heard of any breaking like that

Trebor
Sam word up: No? The BMX ones dominate in every sense. He was kidding, Mark. Stating the trend, albeit quite old, that if something breaks it is therefore shite.
Shaun H
Could try warranty but surely they're not gunna like it if you've spaced it out to 135mm? But I suppose they don't actually have to find out :) (Y) Unlucky

If I was going to be Naughty Mod, I could make it look like none of this ever happened (Y) Nah, I didn't know how to take Sam's post. Pity posts aren't like men. I always know how to take them :)
