fredrico
As the title says if i brought a disk brake would a bigger rotor be more powerful than a smaller one. Not bothered about how good it is for trials i am just wondering if that is all true.

Simpson
Not from experience but the bigger the rotor (sp?) the more power, but less modulation, the smaller the rotor the less power but a less on/off film and more modulation
joshywa
i run a 185mm avid bb7 on the front of my mod and find if i pull the lever even gently it flips me over the bars (not that its happened before ^_^ )
Danny
Moment = Force * Distance Therefore the greater the distance from the turning point the greater the force.

JT!
Don't forget though, the bigger the rotor the more weight your having to throw around. Mind you in saying that it wont be that much more really. ^_^
Martin
yeah it gives more power but i dont think it they look particularry nice on 20" when the rotor is like half the size of the wheel. YUK
poopipe
Moment = Force * Distance Therefore the greater the distance from the turning point the greater the force. ... therefore it requires more force to stop it turning, so purely on that basis big rotors would be less good at stopping you. It comfused me for a while but then i twigged that they're better because more disk goes through the caliper per wheel rotation giving you more braking surface for less wheel rotation.
