bennyboy2005
You've probably heard it all before but i tell you ge the Hope Mono Trials they are so good i tell you. I have a go on my mates bike and i tell you hope trials is the one to get. It gets so many good write-ups and also a very good warrenty if it breaks. There again it is a bit expenive at £130. Good luck
Tom Booth
Mark, my avid did this from new and still does do this, its nothing to worry about, it only does it thou when its well set up, so theres nothing to worry about, i think the ching is just the pads exiting off the rotor. Mark W
Is the spring in correctly? I had that when my spring had popped out a bit and was catching the rotor... I'm such an Avid noob I wouldn't know if the spring was :P There's nothing in the way of the shit poking it's head in the way of my rotor, so I don't think so. The little 'finger' on the end of one of my pads looks bent as f**k, but do they come like that?
flipkickbs
Are the avids relatively easy to install and set up correctly? i'm very good at doing things wrongly so it better be easy :P
Mark W
They are, yeah. Bolt the caliper to the adaptor, bolt the adaptor to your forks. Simple pimple. I fitted them in about a nanosecond, and had no trouble. I just used the outer red dial to tune in lever feel, and I was sorted...
flipkickbs
A nanosecond ey? dam thats fast :P Would a larger rotor be more prone to breaking the caliper due to more leverage on it? i don't want any breakages :P lol
dave33
When your's worked it was OK, but it seems a bit touchy? that time was went it had new pads, as you saw me put them on, and then with that other rotor the pads just glazed, but with the original rotor back on and pads bedded in its really good :P

mat hudson
Is the spring in correctly? I had that when my spring had popped out a bit and was catching the rotor... that would explain why sometimes the brake sticks on.
Caleb
I'm 18, but I work two jobs (one at £5.05 per hour, which is pretty good compared to minimum wage, and one at minimum wage) to afford stuff (Y) But yeah, true about the Maguras can't believe how expensive they are. I guess you do get good customer support/warranty with it though? But still, say, £190 for a new Marta is pretty intense. The only problem I've got with my Avid is that if I'm slowing down from speed with it, it makes a really loud moaning sound? Not squealing, just loud... It's odd. Then when you let go of the lever, it makes a "Ching" sound as though you've flicked the rotor. Weird. Ah well, hoping it'll resolve itself. Only happens every now nad again... As of this month the minnimum wage for 18 year olds is goind up to 4.25. Useful fact (Y) Been researching it at college and just couldnt resist (Y) and by the time your 22 it should be 6 quid plus
flipkickbs
This new front disc is scary, going from such a non existant brake to a 185mm disc is crazy. I'v almost gone over the bars so many times now from pulling the brake to hard (about half way). If anybodys thnking of buying an avid, get one. Awesome brake and only 10 quid for an avid sd3 lever aswell! total cost for disc, cable, and lever, almost 50 quid cheaper than a hope trial
Mark W
that would explain why sometimes the brake sticks on. Nope, 'cos that was a shite setup. Note how it doesn't do it any more Matt? ^_^ Connection, maybe?
