is it better to grind your rims instead of clean or using tar, and sandpaper doesn't do anything does it?

Yes it is better to grind your rims because your brakes will work well even if your rim is wet :S

well i've got clean rims but aint that happy with it. Don't bother using sand paper, it would take days, and wouldent really be worth all the effort (i think :S )

cant really use tar now because of the unstable weather. A clean rim is just crap (like mine now) so a grind is the way to go

i have way paranoid parents lol and am always skint :S so if i got a rim grind would it bugger any kind of warranty? or does the rim grind not weaken the rim to much?

My last grind has lasted about 2 weeks max on a Try-All rim. It wasn't a half-arsed grind either, it's just worn perfectly smooth (Y)

i find if you grind it atleast 12 times VERY rough each time, then your grind starts to hold for a long time, but then it f**ks your rim up big time

And if your on a budget dig out your old magura black pads from the bottom of your tool box they work good on grinds :$

I have started using a ground rim since just before summer. I can say that it is well worth doing, especially for winter. I have tried both hard and soft compund pads on ground rims and they all work well (went from zoo pads to koxx browns, then to heatsink blue pads). Although pad wear rate is slightly faster the performance is much better. :$

Just postpones the inevitable purchase of new pads, i wouldn't bother running a grind if your not going to buy harder pads

not sure how many other people do this but, i grind my rim and when it wears down to be not to rough put a bit of tar on it and i find it is the best (Y) other wise i just put a beast of a grind on >_<

After riding with a grind i couldnt imagine riding without.

Especially in the wet. >_<
