sir trial a lot
righto guys, Basically im now well on my way (saving) for a new frame. i know i either want a ZOO Python or a Echo Team. Soooooooo, basically ovbiously its up to me in the end but which wheelbase do you guys think i should go for? i ride B.I.U style riding and ride a Monty 219 at the minute. Im about 5` 10" and well built :) so basically which wheelbase would best suit me as i havent got a clue :P i like the idea of the long one but stepping off a Monty (one of the shortest bikes out there) would i struggle going onto a 1030-1045mm frame? (Y) Thanks for any help, John
andyroo
I went from a T-Pro with a wheelbase of 1005 to an Echo Team with a wheelbase of 1030, and to be perfectly honest, I didn't really notice all that much difference until I got some riser bars instead of my flat ones. It feels less cramped, but for riding, I'm still as crap as I was on the T-Pro (Y) You should get used to the Echo Team fairly easily, but the Python has quite long chainstays which makes it ride so different. Not that I've ridden it, but I would like to. Test them both out is the best advice really... :)
Towler
Both well made bikes, I ride the echo long feels nice, never rode a python but had a shot on the zona think its same geo? (Y) , that felt nice on back wheel but i never had a propper ride of it. But saying as you are comming from a monty i would go for the team, its same geo as the xtp and if benito and tra manage with it, you should be ok. Ali C
well, I thought the zoo python was the worst riding bike I have ever been on, and I have tried a few. The echo team is ok, not the nicest I have ridden. I MUCH prefer the ride of montys, they just feel sooooo much better than any other mod I have ridden I personally dont see the point in long mods, they dont seem to have any advantages over short ones in my view. If they are too cramped, get a 26"
JIX
Well wheeler isnt very big at all and he rides the long python. His riding improved alot since he has been riding it, the only real draw back he has said is the ability to bunny hop it. He still can, quite high, but its not the nicest thing to do. He went from an echo team.

SQuiT-man
Ive just gone from a monty 221 Ti with 985mm wheelbase to a zona zip with 1040mm wheelbase and very slightly shorter chainstays due to me taking a link out of the chian when I swapped my spec over, and to be honest, it doesnt make much of a difference. I dont feel at all stratched out like I was half-expecting, and I'm 5 foot 9. Id say my zona handles nicer than your average zoo python, due to my slightly shorter chainstays- my zona strangely actually bunny's easier than my monty, too! See my topid in Sites, Vids and Pics if you wanna see pictures and a description of the ride, but Id say for £200 its money very well spent (N)
