CurtisRider
righty the internals on both sets of my avid ultimates have broken, which is rather annoying, the little tab that sits againt the tension screw snaps off so where can i get new ones from? i found that the internals of a deore brake would actually fit after a few adjustments so i have 1 brake going (Y) i guess i could get another deore and use it, but id rather not ruin a good brake (altho the steel internals make sense compared to the alloy avid ones) if anyone has a buggered deore that they wanna shift id be interested :)
1a2bcio8
This also happened to my ultimate caliper. Best thing to do is just wind the screws right in and bend the springs for tension adjustment. Alternatively, find an avid dealer or send an email to avid requesting a replacement. CurtisRider
do you know what the warranty is on them? im not so keen on bending the springs, since they are hundred quid brakes :) but cheers for you help matey-i did consider that i think ill just get some more deore callipers and nick the internals to make new steel ones as thats been perfect on the ultimate i tried that on (Y)
AdamR28
If you bend the springs (approx) half way along their length, NOT at the point they enter the caliper, there will be no problem with it (Y)
CurtisRider
cheers adam, but i reckon ill leave that as a last resort, im gonna get another deore v brake and use the guts of that (N) its working really well on the ultimate i tried it on (Y)
