Mr Motivator
Will my funbolts fit in this? Also, are they out yet? Sam.
Dr. Nick Riviera
f-f-f-f-fresh tensioner (Y)
Mr Motivator
No, Sam modified Surley is where it's at.
Mark W
Actually, I think you'll find Rohloff tensioners (definitely sprung over non-sprung any day, with other tensioners...) are where it's at (Y) But no, I wouldn't of thought that that would've fitted straight out the box with no mods made to it. Mr Motivator
Nah, Rohloff = heavy and expensive. My tensioner is a mix of parts you see.. An 05 cast (not cnc) surley body so the spring doesn't rip through, with a 5mm allen ally snap off bolt, a spring from a shimano 105 road mech, a metal jockey wheel with sealed bearings and a custom hook to go under the chain to stop it from falling off. So it's lighter and better than a standard surley (Y) THAT is a tensioner.
Dr. Nick Riviera
but , it will rape your wallet if you sidehop to the right , surly works fine , if it aint broke dont fix it failing that get a fresh Edited October 11, 2005 by daahnhillaaaa
trialsguru
rohloff? heavy? have you ever seen one and picked it up? (Y)
aust
ive been testing one of those for a while now,... and its mint...... its for a quick release.... stops the dropout bending out... its certainly done the job !!
dave33
since when has a rhollof tensioner been heavy, how heavy is ur modded tensioner?
Mr Motivator
Rohloff isn't heavy, I just said it was. I lied. Infact I know nothing about the Rohloff, I've only seen a couple of small pictures. Point is, I rule. Happy now Sam?
Dr. Nick Riviera
point is , your a twat

Mark W
Rohloff isn't heavy, I just said it was. I lied. Infact I know nothing about the Rohloff, I've only seen a couple of small pictures. Point is, I am a penis? Word (Y) My friend's Surly was utterly shite. It didn't keep his chain at any level of tension, it slipped constantly, and it was shite. Same goes for the DMR tensioner, and Matt's Forge tensioner too. They were all total wank. The only tensioner I've ever seen that actually works and works really well is Dave's Rohloff. Looks cool as f**k, works cool as f**k, IS cool as f**k. You get what you pay for. Mr Motivator
Ok, what clever klogs changed 'I rule' to 'I am penis' ay?
Dr. Nick Riviera
it wasnt someone better than jesus (Y) and post count does not make you clever , in fact quite sad , being on the forum all day what does a tensioner matter to you anyways? you dont ride anymore *cough* pussywhipped *cough* Edited October 11, 2005 by daahnhillaaaa
dave33
so how much did all these parts cost, and also ur time to make it, if you would just have saved up the £50 and bought a rhollof you would be far better off (Y)
Mr Motivator
it wasnt someone better than jesus (Y) Yeah, same person that just gave me a warning. So he can change my posts to make me look like even more of a penis and can also give me a warning? Never did much like this fella anyway. He also swore at me. I'd give him a warning. Mark W
Ah well, I'm sure I'll learn to live without your love, Sam. Nice way to speak about me on MSN too (Y) Your posts were shite. From the 3 people calling a cock about one post alone, that'd suggest I was right. You totally lying about a product, then being a cock afterwards was a bit shite too. But never mind eh. tipsy Jock
Road mech, again and again and again!
Mr Motivator
Nice way to speak about me on MSN too (Y) Yeah, I mean, no offence as you'd be saying the same things. I'm sure your a real nice guy in real life, as am I. The internet is a funny place, you become someone/thing that you don't always want to be. This thread was never meant to end up like this, shit just happened. Oh well no one hurt and no one dead, so it's all good. Anyway yeah, Ok, funbolts won't fit. Thanks all. Grant Peters
I had one made by a canadian company for a while, it just meant that all the force got transfered into the quick release and bent that instead. It was not a good experience i had with a very similar product and in the end quick releases are more expensive than the mech hanger you are trying to save. It was not worth it in my opinion. I kept it on for about 3 weeks... (Y) Hanger Banger
Endohopper
That Hanger Banger shown above looks kinda cool , but I'm with Tipsy Jock on this one , a good roadie mech may be heavy , but offers lots of hassle free tension . ben_travis
why the hell are we all talking about tension still, the boy doesnt want tension on his surly, he wants to know if the mech hanger saver (a device to stop you snapping a mech hanger) will be compatible with fun bolts, which incedentally it doesnt. end of topic it doesnt accept fun bolts
