Chris Cook
Right recently i have got and echo rim on hope XC hub. I recently also had trubble with my bb coming loose all the time but i have tightened it up proper tight now and it has not come loose for a long time but i can hear a swishing sound in it so i think it needs greesing or its recked. ANd now to the point: Every time i tighten my rear wheel with the QR it pulls the frame or the wheel to which ever side the flappy bit is on the QR. And i try to spin my cranks backwards and they dont spin i can pedal fine but they are really tight. I am wondering what is wrong with it as it ios starting to piss me of! Is it the BB? Is it the QR? Is it the Hub? Please someone HELP ! ! ! Chris (Y) Edited October 12, 2005 by cooke
Mark W
How tight is your chain? Oh, and is it the Hope QR?
Chris Cook
The chain is not even tight is is just right and the QR is a shinamo one. (Y)
Mark W
Is the hub axle itself OK? Not the QR, but the actual hub? And does the freehub body sound OK?
Lawnmowerman
When you tighten your wheel push down on the frame and make sure its straight in the dropout. If its still doing it your frame may be bent (Y)
Chris Cook
Is the hub axle itself OK? Not the QR, but the actual hub? And does the freehub body sound OK? Well it seems ok. The freehub sounds ok. I was told by my mate that it could be that the hub freehub is to short. Like i should have 8 speed not 7 ? shovel
firstly make sure that when you tighten the qr you have one hand pushing down on the frame to hold the dropouts in place, if when you pedal back it is stiff and the chain kina sucks down above the chainstay then its the freehub, you say the rear hub is new? all hope hub come with a really thick grease which causes this when new, to get rid of this stickyness go out for long rides not doing trials but more sort of xc with alot of freewheeling this gives the grease a chance to loosen off and for the freehub to wear in a bit
