wilky_mod_legend2
hi, i put my magura on my new frame and set it up, becuase one side was a lot closer than the other i wound it in, but every time i pull there brake it pushes pad so the gap is huge on one side and touching the rim on other?? advise would be most helpfull. thanx a lot tom (Y)
quick_spider
Check your rim is dished properly, ie. central in between the mounts. Set the brake up again (properly (Y)) Look in the FAQ for Marks guide to setting up rim brakes. Jon
wayneone
Mine did this, what i did in the end was take it all off again take a bolt and screw it into the frame without the mounts then offered the mounts upto it to make sure they wernt too long, Then i re set up making sure the plastic washer was in the right place(the break pointing down inbetween both mounts) and went from there. downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
TPA might be on full? Turn that little red knob thing on the lever to the left intill it doesnt turn any more, both pads should be right back to the calipers, then pull the lever gently and watch the pads, if you pull it, say, 1", and none of the pads budge, then you have air in your maggy, so just rebleed it, if you pull it like 1mm and the pads start to move, you dont have any air, so dont need it re bled, so just then set the brake up (Y)
6ft-midget
Loosen off the TPA. Loosen the mounts. Move the cylinders into the right position (I'd say as close to the rim as possible, without it rubbing) Tighten up the mounts keeping the cylinders in the right position. Then start tightening the TPA untill it's how you want it. Edited October 12, 2005 by 6ft-midget

Mark W
Do you mean your wheel's moving or the pistons are slipping in the mounts?
RicH_87
take the brake off again, clean the pistons with something like wd40, make sure the plastic grips are both in the same place on both cylinders and that they are straight and not buggered. (with the tpa wound all the way out) Re-attach the brake tight enough to stay straight, but loose enough to move with your fingers. Now line the pads up with the rim so you have a few mm between the rim and the pad, then hold each cylinder in turn and tighten it up and much as you can, be careful not to over tighten and strip you're threads though. Still making sure the plastic grips are nice and striaght and not bent/trapped/broken. Now adjust the tpa a little bit and keep pressing the lever to make sure the cyclenders are moving out equally. Basically i suspect either your cyclinders are dirty and won't retract all the way, or you're not tightening the bolts up enough. Also if you're a complete newb (which i doubt seeing as you're building up a new frame) make sure your magura clamps are the right way round
