Technical Tom
Does anyone know when the 20" heatsink booster will be released?. It does say on the heatsink website november but does anyone think it will be released sooner?. cheers, Tom Edited October 9, 2005 by onza_tom123
TomN
Well if it says November then it's November, it anit even Nov yet. Look back in some of the other Heatsink booster threads as I think someone said a date I think.

tank_rider
the mod booster will be a 4 bolt design similar to the stock version, however it will have a little extra clearance for the larger mod rear tyres. As Steve doesn't want to have any problems with clearance and compatability he is doing the same level of research as he did with the stock boosters, and so it may take a while but when he releases it it will be a sorted design. Be patient, it will definately be worth the wait.
Waynio
he will be receiving all his measurements this afternoon from me in an e-mail about the different pitches in the holes of frames and such forth and how much clearance they tend to need etc etc. Waynio................. my 26" booster seems to be turning a few heads.......... and its deffo a nice piece of kit. well made and well thought out. Still waiting for designs/templates off Steve, to help get a final idea of the look, weight and clearance of it (Y)

Mark W
I just don't see the point in a booster that's essentially the same as the Echo Team booster. It's just not going to make people buy a different one which is hardly different at all, but if it was 4-bolt people would buy it straight away. I don't get mods have to have shite boosters just 'cos we've got smaller wheels? They've got 4-bolts, so they need to have 4-bolts covered... In a 'not-wanting-to-sound-harsh' way, then whats the point in a booster thats essentially the same as a Control booster? Plus, weren't you the one whinging that 4 bolt boosters were too hard to set up, Mark? (Y)
Burton
A 4-bolt mod booster needs to be made. At the moment if mod riders want a stiff back brake, they'll go for the Echo booster(black un)(if theyre wise :P ). So it would be interest to the public to provide a 4-bolt brake booster, specific for mods, but just as stiff and sturdy(sp?) as the current Heatsink booster. So bascially, the current Heatsink booster, but with the top of it thinned out, for more tyrre clearnace, but without making it higher up. :-
Mark W
In a 'not-wanting-to-sound-harsh' way, then whats the point in a booster thats essentially the same as a Control booster? Plus, weren't you the one whinging that 4 bolt boosters were too hard to set up, Mark? :P I knew someone would bring that up. Right: The Control was a fanny to set up 'cos it was thicker than a hefty penis. This meant that, especially with a mod tyre, it was a mission to set up. The Heatsink stock booster is slimmer than the Control, thus easier to set up, theoretically stiffer according to the FEA pics (although lest we forget Deng's 'fantastic' pics of the Hi-Fi vs. XTP), is cheaper and is lighter. Also, anodised finish. THAT is an improvement. The Echo Team booster still allows frame flex, as you said yourself Ad, and as I can witness on my brake. I don't understand why people think 2-bolt boosters are 'fine' for mods. I really don't understand it at all. Why is it fine for stocks to have 4's, but not for mod's? It's not like Maguras don't flex frames on mods, is it? The Control booster is stiff as f**k and virtually eliminates all frame flex. The Heatsink booster for stocks does that too, with other plus points. The Team booster is OK, but still lets through frame flex (quite a lot with my Zip?). The Heatsink booster, if it's 2-bolt, will basically be attempting to polish a turd. If it was 4, I'd buy it. From the views of people on here and MSN, they'd buy it too. It's just not going to happen if it's a 2-bolt. Even people who'd normally just buy it 'cos it was made by Steve might think twice. That answered your question, Ad? :-
