Mark W
Hey all, At the moment, I'm running a Creepy Crawler rear, and a Try-All front. The Try-All has been on my bike since the Bike Show this year, and in the same time I've had that one Try-All front (which still has life left in it), I've been through 2 Creepy Crawlers (first one lasted me about 5 weeks or so). I really, really like the levels of grip from the Try-All on the front, and I really like the levels of grip from the Creepy Crawler - except for the gash feeling sideways - but would a Try-All rear grip and last better than my Maxxis's's's's's have done? Anyone gone from one to the other? Thanks for any help, Mark
PaRtZ
Can't say for sure, but I always thought that try-alls were softer and grippier than most tyres and don't last very long at all. Local guy told me he goes through try-alls once every 3-4 months (Y) But chris does natural all the time so I guess that's why
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
If you do street all the time and are on concrete most of the time, the try-alls on the rear wear out ALOT quicker than on on front, parcially because you are on the rear wheel alot and atuff like that. Exactly the same as the maxxis tyres, im on my 2nd rear maxxis (nearly fully dead again) and still the same front as when i got my bike (around 7 months ago) but its nearly dead again :P So if i was you, stay with the maxxis on the rear (Y)
club_card
I´ve had my rear creppy crawler on since last october almost a whole year and theres still plenty of tread left, which i dont understand at all every one says they don´t last long at all. And ive only had one punture with it.(Y) I do ride my bike alot too at least twice a week and at one point in the summer holidays i was out every day on it. Maybe there a different compound over here? or maybe the pavments are smoother? anyway im not complaining saves me money :P
Technical Tom
I've had the same problem with the wear rate of the maxxis creepy crawler on the rear, ive had 2 since the bike show. I wish they would bring out some more choice in mod tyres insteed of just to companies. Thanks, Tom
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Monty.... Echo.... Maxxis.... Koxx.... doesnt look like theres 2 to me? lol
Burton
Try-all front and rear. :P Well, not that necesary for the front, but essential for the rear; better grip in wet and dry conditions, dispurts mud, better sidewall grip for sidehops, thicker sidewalls to stop gay pinches, 40a(slow reezay) compound. Only a little heavier(something 100g?), but that means thicker sidewalls, which are almost double the Maxxis uns, but not quite highroller/minion sidewalls( 2 ply). About the same price now as well (Y) Just they wear a little quicker, but it being an ACE tyre cancelles that out! Tlk to ye on MSN to pursuade ye Mark :P

Plus all day Sundays, most of Mondays and Thursdays, after work on Saturdays, etc. So I ride a LOT more than "twice a week", which would explain the harsher wear rate. Monty.... Echo.... Maxxis.... Koxx.... doesnt look like theres 2 to me? lol Forgot to specify: I want a grippy, high performance tyre. Therefore, there are 2.
dave33
do the mod tyres from maxxis come in single or double ply as marks looked really flimsie (Y)
Burton
do the mod tyres from maxxis come in single or double ply as marks looked really flimsie (Y) no ply? they definately aren't 2 ply, think theyre even less than 1 ply
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
no ply? they definately aren't 2 ply, think theyre even less than 1 ply My CC tyres are quite thick IMO if the try-all tryes are even thicker... Josephine
no ply? they definately aren't 2 ply, think theyre even less than 1 ply You realise that's impossible right? 'Ply' is just a different word for layer, difficult to have fewer than one (Y) Joe
jamesb
My try-all rear lasted me 5 months. In the summer I ride for 6 hours every day, but alot of that time is spent on pallets and grass so.... I say go for the Try-all as it is grippy and relatively tough (fewer pinches). mat hudson
no ply? they definately aren't 2 ply, think theyre even less than 1 ply alright captain retard (Y) . i think they're maxxis dual ply but without the butyl insert so they are lighter, the front one is single ply.
