isnt this kinda the same stuff as Hi8 energy drink + bars? well, if so, yeah i used those everyday in training and racing XC stuff. But i fail to see the point just for trials. Maybe for stamina generally, but i dont really see how its going to imporve your instant strength. Therefore, not much point.

They're aimed at endurance type mountainbiking, with no resting, so surely it wouldnt do you any good,( and cost a lot!) to drink/eat something your body wont be using properly. Out of experience, it doesnt change your existing effort, but more just prolongs it by supplying your body with a few more nutrients than eating yukky healhty food.

well anyway, i havent used it for trials, only XC/road, as i know for me personally i wouldnt see any difference in my riding.

Promax extreme in the main part of the website looks really good for increasing power without massive bulk. I recon this could be a really good product for trials as we all need power without excess bulk.

Personally i do not eat enough protein which i think really holds me back, as your muscles end up using themselves to fuel themselves, hence i ache like a bi*ch for like 3 days after a ride (maybe im just old lol).

yo mate, have you done a competition of 10sections and 2 laps?????do you not find your muscles in your arms pump up??? this is what this kind of stuff does to help and the drinks and stuff give you bursts of energy, a bit like a sugar rush from a mars bar, but such things as salt and other key things that need to be in your body, when your body runs low on the important things you start to feel it, for example cramp is caused from the lack of salt in your body, i think, sumot like that any way...........

they arent just aimed at cometition anmd endurance events, its more to do with if you want to keep your body in tip top condition, a bit like your car, if you run it low on oil it will naker up, if you run your body low on the things it needs it cannot recover and such forth.

Waynio..............................

am just curious and interested Grant, are you a silent slaesman for the stuff you have put a link to above???? it comes across in the last few posts your a silent sales man on the side...........hehe

I need some stuff that gives me energy, I am always tired and knackered.

I also need somthing that will get rid of my arm pump. I go and setup for a sidehop on my backwheel and by the time I am ready to go for it, I cant use my brakes cos my finger and hands are numb (Y) so imagian how bad it is at a comp!!!

Thing is Ali, armpump is caused by the tendons in your arm becoming swollen (from use), and then being 'trapped' by the tendon sheath*. That's why a lot of top MX riders have had the operation where the sheath is sliced open, so the tendons are freer moving. That's like the extreme way of doing it. I get arm-pump pretty bad too, but there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. I found an article about exercises to minimise the effects of it on some MX website, but there's no way you can fully eliminate it without surgery, it seems.

*Might be the sheaths swelling and restricting the tendons...

yeah, I have heard about the surgury, if I dont have to pay for it (nhs possibly?) I would consider it! This arm pump is really fouling my comp results and getting me down gernerally.

I saw some guides on an mx site, I tried them for a while but it didnt seem to make any difference.

I also use a powerball, but its loud and gives me blisters

I have an apointment with a specialist doctor in this field soon, so I'll see what he says.

Apparently, it can also be the case that too much muscle can be built up, thus restricting the sheath's as well? Seems liek a f**king nightmare to sort out anyway (Y)

It's weird how it's impossible to just strengthen the tendons themselves to get rid of it. Maybe eating a lot of bananas and stuff like (whatever foods reduce lactic acid build up/cramp) might help? Although I'm guessing you've tried that before...

this is cause it is lacking something in the blood/muscle fibre to make it do this. hence people taking this carb stuff and drinks supplement. as it does/can reduce that dependant on what sort of excercise you do and such forth.

Waynio.....................

all i have to do is say it has worked for me and i can prove this! i have porridge for breakfast and then use Powerbar drinks supplement as well as a couple of gels and i do not get arm pump!!!1 yet at the world round i had a crappy breakfast and didnt use any of the gels and found myself with really bad arm and finger cramp and groin cramp this was PURELY due to the lack of salt in my body, i had enough energy and get up and go about myself BUT the salt part of it was appauling..............so salt can play a major part in this whole equation.but for 10 long sections my arms were spot on, until the salt in my muscles were running low and it just caught up with me.i was feeling fine and dandy and i could have done another 2 laps of 10sections easy.

NOTE for kids, please do not go drinking salt!!!!it will not do you any good................small amounts is fine. large amounts will be bad for you.

I would take more energy drinks and gells, but I can afford them

I agree that salt helps, I had a salty breakfast the day of the last national round and I didnt really start to get bad arm pump untill the 2nd lap (impressive for me).

lol waynio, i'm not, but i do use the promax bars and my mate has used promax promax extreme and cyclone at different times and he swears by it...

hehe i was just pulling your leg, altho you do come across as a good sales man???? do you work in a shop?

ye ali that breakfast we had at the roebarge hotel was mint, salty as hell!!!!!! specially with people putting extra salt in theirs  lol.

Waynio..........................

its all in the salt  haha. but the sports performance stuff doesnt "enhance" it just keeps your body in the correct work zone as i would put it, instead of it running itself into the ground, and being quite low on the things it needs. i doubt a sports drink could ever (maybe it could) make you really high like drugs are supposed to????they just wouldnt be able to get away for athletes taking it.
