Mc Lovin
you probly arent jumping forward. you need to let go of the break jump forwards and jab the pedal at the same time :turned: takes a bit of practice to get :) have a look here

cp101
Hopping on your rear wheel is balance, you don't need to know how to do a pedal kick. I'll try to explain; To hop on your rear wheel you pretty much need to have a good foundation on track standing and actual hopping. Hopping as in lifting your entire bike of the ground, not a bunny hop, where the front wheel goes up, then you lift the rear, hopping as in hopping on things( curbs are the best, and low benches ) With hopping dialed ( :turned: ) you should be able to do a rear wheel hop, but doesn't mean you'll get it down, because the balance is on your rear wheel. To hop on the wheel itself, roll forward and hit your front brake lightly ( not enough to endo ) adjust your body so that you don't endo, and as your rear tire is coming down, pull up, as you're coming up adjust your body according to the height of your front wheel, so, if the front wheel is high you need to be high with it, almost standing up, if the wheel is low you need to be low, as in your butt needs to be hovering over the rear wheel. When your front is in the air and you have it balanced, hold onto your back brake with dear life, use one finger or adjust your brakes so that you can use one finger. One can use two fingers, but the pinky and ring finger do not have enough strength to hold onto the handle bars. Now in the air all you need to do is balance on your wheel, which has quite a few variables ( your handeness, your weight, your height, your center of balance, all of which you know, both conciously and unconciously ) To hop just bend down, then with enough pressure pull up so you hop with your wheel. You can get up on your back wheel in a variety of ways though. Ryan leech says the easiest way to do is on a 2 or so foot ledge ( to raise your front wheel enough to be able to bounce on your rear ) but, that sometimes isn't the case if you don't have trackstanding in good standing order. Pedal kicking forward is just using the rear wheel hop and balance while using the drivetrain to move the rear tire to propel you forward. To do this correctly, you're gonna have to hop, but not enough to get your tire off the ground all the way, just to relieve the pressure off the tire, so just bend down and get erect again, only with enough force to slightly lift the tire off the ground, then while the tire is not compressed but not airborne, kick the drive train, with the kick your front WILL come up further, so, with this, you need to crouch towards your rear once again, but then it will fall down, so stand up on your pedals again to counterbalance this so you don't land on your front wheel again. You won't get this right the first time along.. No one does.
