THE ELIMINATOR (DUM, DUM, DUM)

eliminator_banner.jpg

the eliminator rim, from T.H.E, its a rim designed to allow tyres to be run at lower pressures, and eliminating all pinch punctures (imaginative name.)

any thoughts.

a little movie as well for y'all if you fancy it.

ill give my idea's and thoughts later on, depending on the popularity of the thread.

Hudson was creaming over this when he saw some pics of it in MBUK/Dirt, but I don't really reckon it's that great an idea.

'cos of the way the middle hump rises above the sidewalls, wouldn't it just mean that when you landed to an edge with lower psi you'd just twat straight onto the hump? That *can't* be good for your rim...

if you watch the video the boy's in that are fairly giving it some pasty, so maybe its a decent design, but i do see where you are both coming from

depending on how 'curvy' the curvy bit is, then surley that would just give more risk of a pinch, but instead in the middle of the tube, rather than the edge?

Depends on the pressures he's running, plus how he's set the shocks up.

I've mullered into steps like that on my Zip, and it hasn't pinched at all.

Again, it's just that lump in the middle that I reckon trials riders would f**king cane...

I think Mark is right. We will twat the shit out of that middle bit, which will probally lead to it denting and becoming sharp, and that will probally cause loads of punctures that way. It will also give a really harsh ride as the tyre wont be able to absord as much as it normally does because it will "bottom out".

At first I looked at the pic on the site with the 2 cross sections of a flat rim and this rim and I thought it was a wicked idea. But the pics show the rim on one side mainly and rocking on the middle bit. Us trialsters hit both sidewalls at the same time most of the time, so we will just bottom out on that.

Probally works really well for freeride.

I'm so cool (Y) I saw this about 3 years ago in an issue of mountain bike action.

I think its a cool idea, but I think the problem mark said would be too annoying, it would feel like your rimming out on everything! It doesnt look that wide either.

Also, on things like gaps, a lot of people (including me) tend to kick the bike out at an angle when landing, that rim looks like it would only really work if it was a straight hit, so we would still get punctures.
