mash65
All heard of Google Maps? Well you can create your own, and put your own points on them, so this site could have a map with locations of all it's members :$. You wouldn't want the locations too accurate, just enough so someone can tell if there's someone else nearby, or whatever. Considering that bike trials is a relatively small sport and tight community I thought it might be a cool idea. I put together a small demo, just shows the basic idea, it's here. Click the dots! Pretty easy to put together, I can lend a hand if needs be. Anyone like the idea?

cookie456_the2nd
I personally think that sounds like quite a good idea. Then some could have a quick look at the map and go 'theres riders, there and there, that aint too far away from me. Maybe i could arrange a ride and get there?' How Would you add yourself onto there, would you be able to lets say add your postcode and a link to your trials-forum page on some sort of form? Im liking that idea. tomturd
That looks good. I could nick the maps off there and use this - http://www.theperfectpage.org/bb/index.php?act=membermap2 Then it'll properly integrate with the site too... it wont survive any upgrades though :$ How does that look? cookie456_the2nd
I think that looks good. It may not survive the upgrades but cant you put it on a different part of the server lets say and have a link to it that way. So like the Board and map thing arent related? Or will it not work like that. But it sounds kl.
mash65
Site intergration wouldn't be too hard, basically the user has to find their long/lat from some other website and then you have a custom field here where they can enter it into their profile. Then, you create a module within the forum and paste all the google stuff into it, and feed it all the user information.

mash65
Or just get them to paste in their postcode? (N) You need the long/lat, there are other sites where you can get this easily by pasting in a postcode.
Simon
You need the long/lat, there are other sites where you can get this easily by pasting in a postcode. Not if you have a database with every postcode and its relative longitude and latitude position. (N)
