I pretty much always wear my gloves. Having said that, the other day I was just messing about in the yard for a minute and didnt put them on and it felt pretty nice :)

I get big blister/callus things even through my gloves :S , but they dont seem to hurt very much anymore.

I really don't see how you can get pissed off with calluses! They're simply doing an important job of protecting your hands.

If the skin where they are, gets abused, the body will naturally toughen that area, so it is less weak - so it will hurt and blister less. They're usefull, and don't pick 'em off.

Back to the old grips question, I'm stuck on Richley WCS foam grips, they seem perfect, and with decent (large) bar ends, they're not tearing at all. :S Brilliant with or without gloves.

I usually ride with gloves, as it's just a bit more comfortable, but sometimes I'm equally happy riding gloveless.

Mike. :)

What he said, they're there for a reason.

I only wear gloves when it's cold, if i can get away without them i will.

I wear glove's on and off really, I just invested in some foam grips but they feel really fat on the bar, but they feel better to ride with when im not wearing gloves, so which one so i choose ? there should be both up there in the poll !

I started out rididng with gloves, but for some reason they gave me worse blisters than when i rode without any. I gave them up for nearly 2 years until the end of this summer. My palms would get just too sweaty and whenever i would try anything remotely big for me a hand would completely slip off. So i went to halfords and bought the smallest and cheapest gloves i could. Literally they were too small they only just covered the whole of my palm. After streatching them out so they fitted then riding in them for a few days they are now perfect and im not going to look back.

Another reason i switched to gloveless riding back in the day was because you can feel a lot more through the bike and whats going on through the brakes, which i used to lose when i rode with gloves previously. Now i dont notice much difference at all. Its quite nice not to have numb brake fingers in the cold nowadays :S

If your planning on getting any.. get the smallest you can possibly fit on your hand.

I always use gloves. it's just less fuff about with them. Find a glove that fits OK, get some nice grips and off you go. Not that much callousing and my hands never hurt.

Saves me the effort of chanel no5'ing my grips up Tic stylee, and saves my stupid ass (or hands) when I feel like falling off.

I have never understood how people can bother with no gloves and talcum powder.. it's like tarring a brake. gives better feel for a bit, but needs reapplying, while gloves (grind) lasts longer, works better in all weather but doesn't have the same feel to it. kinda.

No gloves, and no gloves for the past 3 years.

You dont get as nice a feel of the bar with gloves I find, and if you get some nice foam grips then you dont loose grip on the grips when hot and sweaty/raining. I will never use gloves again. You will get calluses with gloves too, dont think you wont, like mike said they are there for a reason. And falling off, how does a thin bit of cloth help hurt less? When I used to use gloves and I fell of it wouldnt help, it would just tear and then its your hand anyway.

Never used to wear gloves back in the day for BMX and got used to it,started riding trials and street and found that i needed gloves.I use Gussette bastards on my bikes as i really like them, and they seem to go well with the 661 gloves which i'm now used to and yes you still get callouses and my hands still sweat loads but this now gets soaked up by the gloves and i'd personally rather come off with gloves as a first line of defence than my palms taking all the impact/scratches.

Two words: Friar's Balsam

Just apply some of that to any blister's that open up on your hand, it'll cause you unimaginable pain for about 5 seconds then it's done, no need to worry about that blister for the rest of the year :bunny:

I use Ritchey foam grips, though I've been daft enough to do so without bar ends and they've ripped quite badly as a result, I've also found that they seem to disintegrate under my thumbs for some reason. Can't beat them for feel though, and when they finally wear out I'll be getting some more :(

I did swear by gloves, but then i got some new grips, and gloves didnt seem right on them.

So now its just gloveless all the way, cant wear gloves at all while riding, just doesnt feel right, cant hold onto me bars or out :bunny:
