cleanbikes
they come in 35mm and 50mm they have different names but i think they are the same compound, you cant buy them any more Adam@TartyBikes Posted Today, 01:53 PM Strange, I've rarely heard of them staying on the backing, haha. Yes you can still buy them - they're one of our top-selling pads (and we've only ever had two pairs reported as ripping off the backing in four years of selling them)! Hydra's = 35mm = £10 pair X-Lite's = 50mm = £16 pair Here :$
squince
Yeah, but dont the X-hydras only have the short pad? they are really small (Y) (Y) I wouldnt trust them! lol I think im going to get a new rim, get some more CRM's on a fine grind, see how that works (N) What rim do you use? And stop grinding it  Theres probably a perfectly good reason why your brake is not working (Y) Maybe a slightly leaking calliper...thats leathal too much tar on rim...overall makes your brake absoloute crap brake pads not square to the rim. I went though that the other week, no matter what pads i put on, the brake was rubbish :$ cheer andy
Urpedigreechumdog
Whatever you do about pads (coustelliers maybe?).... Don't get Toxsin pads, they are about as worthless as some steam off a tramps piss.
Janson
coustellier pads are the best pads i have tried on any bike. shame that they do not sell them readily fitted into 50 mm backings.
Will Arnold
X-Hydras are 35mm long, and I've never heard of them coming out of the backings, basically. They were amazing pads... my first set lasted me bloody ages, but then I got a grind and they died fairly quickly. Last pair lasted about 3 days, but they were the grippiest pads I've ever used. Amazing in the wet too! lmfao!!! hahahaha what a legend  :$
merseytrial
Toxsin pads, they are about as worthless as some steam off a tramps piss. The Truth is >>> Toxsin pads work Amazing with smooth (or very old light grind rim), ESPECIALY in we muddy conditions :P After all they are the same pad as Koxx bloxx but PINK! http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....pic=41481&st=80 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=63397 One thing that I found is the pad is not so good in hot in dry and dusty conditions but a slight bit of tar sorts that with quick locking power. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....md=si&img=11547 Thanks for reading, adam :P Edited October 7, 2005 by shop@merseytrial

That makes no sense. Not to mention "smooth rim" and "wet" doesn't ever really work super well, especially if you've had to use tar to give them "quick locking power"... SQuiT-man
I thought the toxsin pads I used were the WORST pads I have ever tried for maguras ever before on a smooth rim, not even powerful enough for my front brake (and I never have a powerful frontbrake at all), even after setting them up perfectly and having them perfectly flat to the rim, bedding them in for a couple of weeks of riding, and even cleaning them and the rim! crap! Might just have somehow been just my bad experience though.. They arent the same compound as koxx bloxx, as they are pink for a start- the colouring affects the braking properties! Might have to try out some Koxx blues, perhaps greens, after my Coustillier pads have worn out (AMMMASSSING pads when set up right on a ground cheese rim), thought it doesnt look like it'll be soon. Mark W
They arent the same compound as koxx bloxx, as they are pink for a start- the colouring affects the braking properties! Not always. However, as Adam said - these pads work better on a smooth/lightly ground rim, whereas the Koxx Bloxx harder compound is recommended for usage on a harsh grind. *Bit* of a difference. Plus people saying "The Toxsins I had were shit, but my Koxx Bloxx are great". Erm...
merseytrial
There the same compound but different pigment. So None of the bloxx brand colur pads work excatly the same. Obviously a good rides rim would be clean before it went out in the rain after using tar (dry dusty day) :P Would you like to try a pair Mark?? adam Edited October 7, 2005 by shop@merseytrial

Obviously a good riders rims would be clean before they go out in wet after using tar in the sun... :P Would you like to try a pair Mark?? adam Well, I'm running a grind so from your words I guess that'd rule me out? But either way, if the pads don't work the same they ARE a different compound. The pigment itself doesn't change the actual properties of the pad; the pigment shows they are a different compound, as it's used as a marker. merseytrial
Ok so Toxsin Pads are the same as bloxx but have a pink colour. They work to a very high standard with the right setup and conditions. A good all round cheap pad.

SQuiT-man
I felt mine on a smooth rim were always ear piercingly screeching, yet very little power, limited with hold especially. In the end I went back to kool stops, similar power, just without the horrible screeching

dave33
bloody hell i didnt know they still made them, fred at nse told me they didnt do them any more i shall be gitting some new ones, when the pair i just put on wear out as they are amazing, better than koxx, but i dont think they are gonna last longer. onzaboy mark will confirm how well my brak works. Yes you can still buy them - they're one of our top-selling pads (and we've only ever had two pairs reported as ripping off the backing in four years of selling them)! Mark W
Sure did work damn well, save for that sloooow return :P Nah, it was all good. You've got the X-Lites, btw Dave. They're the 50mm ones, so yeah - X-Lites. I had the Hydras, and they rocked too. Just the wear rate was shite in the last pair I had. Weird... first Hydras/monty foam grips I had (bought at same time), 1 year + lifetime from them. Next pair of hydras/foams lasted for less than one ride each (Y)
dave33
same compound on both though, iv also had the a hydras and they are really good to (Y)

SQuiT-man
was your rim clean? Absolutely perfectly clean, I cleaned it before setting the brake up with them, ran them for a week, then degreased my brake (with a degreaser that has always made ANY brakepad I have used before far more powerful, even if only for 30 mins before the rim is no longer clean), and it was still crap. My mate didnt have much success either, on a light grind
JIX
Well I have tried Koxx blues from thursday till today and they were shite. It goes like this. Put a fresh harsh grind on riim, set pads up really well and then rode around a bit on them to try and settle them in a bit. They seemed crap from the start, not like browns which seem to work much quicker for me. Then went down poole on saturday and rode most of the day in the rain, and they were terrible. I know most brakes go worse in the wet but Im 100% sure that browns on my grind would have locked and held fine as I have done many times before. Then today went to portland to try and ride some natty and well lets just say it wasnt very fun. Its the first time I have changed from browns in 2 years and Im going to get some more tommorrow.
