Thom
Any experiences on formula disk brakes specifically the B 4 pro plus ? I'd be using it for the front. I've always loved their lever but don't know if they're strong enough, any help would be great ! Clownbike
My mate had a formula cable disc, lol :P Well it didn't really work so i put tar on the rotor for him and it worked a little better :o He hasn't used the bike in a few years, so prob has an old model. But i did think they were meant to be pretty pants really. I'm sure this didn't help too much but it will get the ball rolling :S Neil <_<
bambi_3
i had a formular before pro and it wos pants,it rubbed all the time because the pistons kept pushing themselves in,but the grip wasnt bad though so maybe mine was faulty,id say stick with magura disks <_<
CurtisRider
that cable brake sound slike the activa, which wasnt too bad a brake! i had 1 for a few months but snapped the rotor so got a hope mini on replacement :o before brakes are strictly xc brakes, they heat up uber quickly and dont have much power get yaself an avid juicy 5 (or 7 if you can afford it)-they are immense and kick almost every other brakes arse, mines far better than any other brake ive used-and ive used/owned alot of discs :P i like them so much that im thinkin of running one on the rear of my trials bike :S although my v brakes bloody good too <_<
Thom
hey you running hydro front and cable rear ? thats what i'll be doing as well, does it feel weird with that combo ? looks like formula is a no then, the other brakes i was looking at was magura louise FR, avid bb7 and the mentioned avid juicy 5. Any opinions on those will be great, thanks for the replies so far <_<
Ali C
the louise fr is an awesome brake! Really grabby but still had modulation, also sounds like a turkey <_<

Been over bars 8 times in 1 night <_< cause i still thought i had my C2 on :S Added bonus aswell, my girlfriend is called louise, so i now i have the name "louise" on my bike :o
Thom
also sounds like a turkey biggrin.gif is that a good thing or bad thing <_< louise FR is looking good so far, what size rotors you guys using?
CurtisRider
185 rotor for sure <_< the most common size yeah i run hydro disc upfront and v brake(cable) at rear there isnt much difference in feel, both are as smooth and light to use as each other-i found maguras were far to sluggish, and with water they felt horrible too-with a decent lever blade, a magura would be an option for me, as they are.....no way the juicy lever is feckin ace though-it feels just.......right :S
