Im *hopefully* going to be getting a 2nd hand 221Ti, its 1 year old but has only been ridden for 7-8 months.

I know the older monty's tend to crack when used with a profile, like this one has, but its a 2005 Ti so i thought the problem may have been solved.

So basically, i want to know how many of you know anyone who has snapped either a 2004/5/6 monty and whether they used a profile.

Im going to be using a king bmx, so dont really want my new frame to snap in a few days.

I snapped my 04 (I think its an 04 anyway- it doesnt have disk tabs) and I was using a profile, as was bongo before me.

I think you should be ok as long as you dont put extra spacers on the inside of the chainstays (such as the ones that come with a profile), or accidentally physically stretch the chainstays out too much while fitting your wheel (Y)

They arent that bad, a lot stronger than what people think and say. They are plenty stiff enough, and most 04s that I have seen cracked have cracked for a reason, e.g. running a profile with snail cams on the inside aswell (adds a few extra mm's of chainstay bendage), and/or abuse.

Very few 05s have cracked really, I have only heard of a couple.

Pretty good case with the Zona... puts things into perspective.

£150 for a frame that *might* (but probably wont) break in a few days, or £200 for a 4.7lb frame thats well built and should last at least a year. Plus a fresh warranty.

The geometries are totally different though...

Humm de hummmm. Why oh why do they crack! Im guessing all these cracks are at the chainstay?

110mm wide hub, 106mm wide spacing at the rear. If you run the hub nearer the front of the drop-outs too, it's splaying it further.

10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag. Something has to give
