Pc Setup - Taskbar & Hard Drive Partitions

Hey guys, installed XP today - got it all working.

When I set it up, I made 2 partitions in my hard disk, a 30gb one, (Which I installed XP onto), and a ~45gb one.

Now, in my computer, it's only coming up with the 30gb one, and not the other.

Can I find + gain access to the other without reinstalling again?

Also, I much prefer having lots of windows, (like on <windows 2000), but on XP, it comes up with the groups. Is there any way of disabling the groups?

Thanks, Mike.

that only applies to xp and xp professional, mikes on 2000

Yeah, as I said in my original post. (Y) :-

I tried what Tomm posted (I found it whilst I was searching), but every time I tried to "Start" some of the options, it came up with various errors, consisting of being denied access, and various other ones. (Which I can't remember now - as I'm at 6th form)

I've copied all my files over to Sam's laptop (thanks a million sam! :P), and am going to be formatting it and installing XP on it tonight. Ah well.

Mike.

Er, tried this?

Start > Control Panel > Administrive Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management

Once you're in, you should see the XP drive and another un-formatted one, format it by right clicking, and it might work. I stress, i'm only going on past problems, but heh, will take like 5 seconds and is worth a try.

As for the grouping, right click the taskbar, properties, then un-check the "group similar items" box.

sounds to me like you only created one partition and left the other remaining space undesignated, you do know that you have to create two partitions and not just one and leave the remaining space unallocated. If you have done that then just whack your xp cd back in, boot off it like you would do to install xp, then create the partition from the free space available, then exit the installer before you format the new partition (you can do that in windows, once the partition is created). Once back in windows, open up my computer, then double click on the newly partition drive and it should ask you if you want to format it, hit yes and it should do the deed.

for the grouping of taskbar icons, right click on the taskbar and then uncheck the box next to "group similar taskbar buttons", that should sort that out :S

if you need any more help give me a shout over messenger <_<

Cheers for the reply Andy, but Simon's post managed to sort me out pretty well - cheers guys. :S

Should've moved to XP years ago!

Mike. :P
