Tom Booth
Righty ho, i have a slight problem, my drive side crank arm is causing me greife, i spin the crank arm and it waves in and out, so badly that the chain ring rubs on the yoke and midley slices the yoke(ont worr i stopped riding ASAP). All i was wondering was, Is this the bb bent? or are my cranks f**ked? the bolt was super tight holding them on. My set up is: T-rex frame UN 53 bb Middleburns in square taper Anyone else had the same problem? will a new bb help solve this? (the bb is about 5-6month old if it makes any difference?) AND... To help me solve the problem i need a crank extractor. And was wondering what is possibley the best one available? Park tool? pedros? I was looking at the park tool one on crc for 11.99(unsure of model number, but it has a long handle, looks slightly like a ratchet) Is this a good crank extractor? because i really dont want to strip them as i cant be arsed to shellout 50-60 quid for replacemtn burns. dave85
Does sound like the BB is bent, cranks rarely go like that in my experience. On the puller front, the ones with inbuilt handles can be a pain sometimes, the handle fouls pedals on short cranks, and you cant always get your fingers beween the handle and the crank sometimes. I'd go for this one
Tom Booth
but when looking from above the bb axle is perfectly square? is it bent just on the edge of the crank would sire say? Cheers for the heads up on crank extractor, ill go and see if me LBS has that crank puller, hope so. Cheers Tom
Danny
Rotate the bb from the none drive side and look directly on at the drive side. You should be able to see any movement.
