JT!
Just taken my KMC 1/8" off and put my KHE Collapse on. When ever i apply pressure when riding (accelerating) it starts clunking. Why? It's definatly not catching on the frame. Edited September 21, 2005 by JT! AdamR28
Is it definitely the chain? Have you lubed it regularly? Are there any stiff links?

JT!
Is it definitely the chain? Have you lubed it regularly? Are there any stiff links? Just put in on after the KMC, i haven't lubed it at all yet, but it's not that kind of problem, it's really lound clunking noice, and it's every link aswell that makes the noise. It's definatly the chain. As it's fine with the KMC on. Edited September 21, 2005 by JT!
Burton
Does it go tight when it makes the sound? If so, mine does it when its too tight. Also does it do it when the cranks are spun backwards?
JT!
Ok, the only thing i can think it is the the KMC made slight grooves on the 12t cog. Could it be the new chain not sitting on it proporly?
David
Is it catching the spokes or bash ring etc? Edited September 21, 2005 by David

JT!
Thats likely - how old was your Kool? Worn sprocket + new chain = clunking... Relativly old, the sprocket is worn, i can see that. That's all i can put it down too. No it's not catching on the spokes or anything else. Lawnmowerman
Is your chain line out? Could be the bending sideways and catching the teeth as it goes round
JT!
Is your chain line out? Could be the bending sideways and catching the teeth as it goes round  Well it's as close as it can get on a 128mm bb really. But if that was the case it would be clunking all the time, not just when you aplly pressure.
Lawnmowerman
I had the same problem and it was only clunking when i applied pressure. Had to put my kmc back on
ben_travis
so i thought i would add my woe's to this topic.....i have just bought a new front cog and rear sprocket and put my khe collapse on (brand new) however when i ride it or apply pressure it is skipping on the cog's would this possibly be down to chain line problems or could it be something different? thoughts? cheers ben

GuyJames
You might have the chain on upside down :D Some people have had experience of doing this and looked foolish, wonder who ;)" Guy
Mark W
Relativly old, the sprocket is worn, i can see that. That's all i can put it down too. No it's not catching on the spokes or anything else. Same thing happened with me going from an old Kool to a new. It f**ked up heinously whenever I applied power. Felt super rough, and didn't really work too well... so i thought i would add my woe's to this topic.....i have just bought a new front cog and rear sprocket and put my khe collapse on (brand new) however when i ride it or apply pressure it is skipping on the cog's would this possibly be down to chain line problems or could it be something different? thoughts? cheers ben ...so I even resorted to getting a whole new drive-train (what a well structured post :P), but it still didn't mesh properly. However, I just kept riding with it, and it just wears in. It's just because it's all new, so it's just got to bed in like most products. It just goes away. Mine still makes a funny noise to some extent, but I *think* it's largely to do with my haggard rear sprocket, still. Also, some chains just can't get their shit together and go round smaller sprockets, although the KHE Collapse can better than my Kool did (less noise). 3 stiff links in mine so, so it's not a prime example :D Either way, it goes away ;)
