tank_rider
I'm looking for a bit of extra performance from my 160mm avid disc, i know i could get a 180mm conversion kit, but i was to see if i can get any better performance from a new set of pads. I currently have the original ones that came with the disc. My question being, what are the best aftermarket pads for avid mechanical discs. Im not bothered about wear rates, i just need some more bite than the standard ones give. Many Thanks Andy
Siders77
EBC Reds? I've heard they're good but never used them.
tipsy Jock
Reds made a world of difference on my mono mini, Although the standard pads are pretty beasty on an avid. Mine are still going strong after a year of abuse
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
put a wee bit of water on the rotor and pour some over the caliper, then ride, should improve performance

Rich Pearson
Buy them from here, i think i might get some. Just had a look on there and was wondering whats the difference between red, gold and green? Also, for uber power, 203 rotor and caliper, standard avid pads and XTR lever. Will have the same stopping effect as a sixty year old oak tree :D Rich
D-L-B
Just had a look on there and was wondering whats the difference between red, gold and green? Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon. I think the reds are softer compound, better performance, shorter pad lief Green are hard for wet or dirty conditions. Gold are standard sintered. Unless anyone can correct me on that. Dan
AdamR28
I think the reds are softer compound, better performance, shorter pad lief Green are hard for wet or dirty conditions. Gold are standard sintered. Last I knew, it was red - soft (as you said) Green was middle/bog standard compound. And then Gold sintered for uber-long lasting. But that was a while back... either way, it appears the reds are the ones to go for on a trials bike. http://www.mtbr.com/reviews might be a useful site :D Adam
