MrMonkey
I just caught the news and a British Tank was on fire, not sure where, but I say bring back the good old whipping stick and rev up the machine guns, in that situation what would you do? Shell everyone in sight possibly killing civilians and teach everyone a lesson. Or do what the guy did, get out and get set on fire.
tomturd
He didnt get set on fire did he? I saw him get out and then get mobbed, then it seems as if they got arrested by the Iraq police. Bummer :)

Haz
Are you sure it was on fire or was it gas cloaking? :)" They have flare like cartridges which cover it in thick smog and make it look like it's been hit with a shell. (Y) Not sure exactly how well they work.

Michael Hardman
Its time for Blair to admit his mistakes, seeig as hes apparently going to stan down from PM, or so he made out when he was re-elected. Its time for him to admit hes had is dick in Bushs B-hole for too long and get Britsh troops out of there. Id admire the man more if he admitted to siding with Bush for a few perks better than seeing Britas die.

Like it or not British troops are there and no matter how much you whine and moan about Blair its not going to change anything.
munkee
People join the army to go to war*. So why do the general public insist on bitching about " our men are dieing bring them out of there ". It was their choice to be there, it IS part of their job description. *War is conflict, between relatively large groups of people, which involves physical force inflicted by the use of weapons. Other terms for war include armed conflict, hostilities, and police action.

Simpson
Hmm they couldn't fire because they would be under orders not to. Im not a polititon but if you did decide to die fighting in 1 of those tanks im 100% sure you wouldn't dies but thousands of innocent iraq's would, the army will get them out of jail as it would be said as they did last night
tipsy Jock
They've been busted out according to the news today, Still not sure on the story behind it all :) Seems like special forces dudes arrested and then handed over to miltants by dodgy cops. Army go in and get their boys out.. I dunno (Y) All with a massive riot in there at some point Pete

Tomm
People join the army to go to war*. So why do the general public insist on bitching about " our men are dieing bring them out of there ". It was their choice to be there, it IS part of their job description There is a difference between joining the army to defend Britain from attack, and signing up to then be told that you're going to the middle east to be an object of hate of most of the world in a war that may (or may not) be illegal. munkee
Like i said, its part of their job description. Many people join the army to fight in different countries and to be based in different countries. From what i heard during talks given when i was in the cadets, they love leaving the uk to protect and bring order somewhere else. They are there to restore peace within iraq, leaving wont restore it. Just forget all the political bullshit, because the army doesnt care. flipkickbs
:D :) good to hear it, that sucks that they were given orders to do that and then got set on fire for christs sake!
andyroo
They cant just up and leave. Bush does want to take advantage of the situation, but there is a lot more to it than that. A democracy is trying to get on its feet, and everything is very shaky, and there are countless numbers of militant groups who would just love to blow up a school bus full of kids and try to take power of Iraq for themselves. Until a full power and force are set up by Iraq's own governing body, it needs the help of competent troops to try to stop all the various militant groups from causing chaos. Remember that all the car bombs and stuff are not just aimed at the British/American forces but mostly at Iraq's own innocent civilians, and preventing these kind of actions (and they would definately be worse if their werent any military forces there, and the democracy would have been taken over), if a neccessity until Iraq can support itself. Dont forget that Bush Senior put Iraq in this situation in the first place, and pulling out and leaving them to kill each other would be unfair on the innocent people caught in the middle of it all.
