Mr Motivator
At the mo I'm using a KMC Kool K710 (1/8, the fat one). I'm using this with a 16t Ti 'Burn bash, and it's worn down the bash so it fits fine now. I'm considering getting a KMC Kool K810 (the thin one) as it's lighter, narrower and just as strong. It will have more clearance too on the bash. I've also heard good things about the KHE Collapse, but I've heard that it's wider than a fat kool, which isn't good. So, bearing in mind I want to spend no more that a tenner.. I'm thinking of getting a narrow kool, or I might have to just get a fat one cause they seem more available. So can anyone shed any light on this about the widths etc, and usage with a Ti bash. Samm
Mark W
It's a tiny bit wider than the thicker Kool, but stronger and I believe it may be lighter? Not 100% about that though... Anyhoo, f**kin' awesome chains, I'd really recommend them, but it'll possibly rub on your bash a *tiny* bit.
Caleb
So whats wrong with your current chain . . . .?
Biff...
Jesus just stick with your current chain till you need a change. Kyle.
munkee
collapse wont work on the tiny chainring.. well didlers didnt he said it doesnt work with the really small gears anyways.
andyzplace
i thought it was designed to run on microdrive so small gears shouldn't be a problem
munkee
i was told it skips off all the time :-
AdamR28
That's probably due to the pins picking up on the edge of the bashring.
Mr Motivator
Oh for you asses up there ^^ I need a new chain, it's almost 2 years old. Well if I can get hold of a narrow Kool I think I'll get that. The collapse sounds kinda shite to be honest, and I've never had a problem with my current Kool. AdamR28
You've said you don't wanna spend more than a tenner, so surely the choice is no-brainer?
Damon W
although you dont wonna spend more than a tenner ide STRONGLY recomend getting the KHE collapse as imo kools are dog meat as when you land on them the links fray and bend whereas with the KHE there ment to be grinded on ect ect and the tensile strength is much greater. :- tiz youre choice buddy but when one of the most important and use components on a bike goes wrong :- , as in your chain, the consequences are devastating so always opt for the strongest possible. espeically if you go big (N)
James Quigley
Hi, I'm 'didlers' as spacemonkey put it earlier. The collapse fitted my ti-bash perfectly, it was jumping off of my 14 tooth sprocket at the back. I think this is because the the spacers beside my sprocket were too big and didn't let the chain sit properly on the teeth. If you're running a 15t sprocket down back then you should be fine. Anyways I have decided to give my collapse to spacemonkey and I'm sticking with a PHat kool, I hear what DW said about them but I hardly knock the chain anyways and have found them fine, despite one snapping on me a few weeks ago and destroying my knee, but was my fault. Mr Motivator
despite one snapping on me a few weeks ago and destroying my knee, but was my fault. ← Thats cause it was uuuuuuber tight lol (N) I'm gonna trek to halfords later today and see if they have any narrow kools :-
JIX
This collapse thing wont work with gears I take it.?
Olly C
This collapse thing wont work with gears I take it.? ← No, well not without serious cut and shut bodges, so lets just say no. The chain is this beefy: If your a mod rider basically you should be riding a collapse chain :- If you ride stock single speed and it doesn't rub or anything get one too (N) If you run gears stick with a Kool its your best option.
