Siders77
Hey. I'm wanting to try out Bit Torrent again. I tried it a while back but it didn't seem to work. <_< So would anyone be able to tell me what you use to download stuff, where you get it from and how you use it. :"> Cheers.
tomturd
Go to bittorrent.com, download the downloader thing and install it. Then mininova.org, search for what you want and click the link (Y)
biketrialler
No warez ? search google for bit torrent and get the program called bit torrent. find something that works with bit torrent, i think some of the legal versions of linux are downloadably over torrent. you download a small file frmo their server, like 50kb. you open that file in the bit torrent program and it runs it, downloads the file off all of the other people that are sharing the file. tomturd
No warez ? ← I assume Siders is only going to use it to download legal stuff or stuff he already owns. Maybe some albums from unsigned bands... that'd be nice (Y)

nb88
or, get the same service for free ← Where from? Because its way better than torrents (absolute max speed from start to finish)
Siders77
I'm getting really annoyed now. I downloaded the thing that Tom suggested. tried to download something from Mininova and it just wouldn't connect. It stayed on 0.0% for ages. So I bugged Jay for a bit (Sorry! ) and downloaded BitComet. That did the same so I left it for about 30Mins and it started but I was only getting 17KB/S Max and it made browsing the Internet slow. I don't know what's going on. I'm behind a Firewall but I clicked 'Unblock' when it popped up asking if it was ok or something. But it still went slow. I have a router sending the Internet from downstairs to my room but I don't know if it's anything to do with that. Any Suggestions? (Y)
nb88
Sounds like your router - you need to enable some ports so that the program can access the net. Look on goggle for 'router ports for bitcomet' or whatever program your using, should tell you the range of numbers, and just put that into applications access in your router settings. Siders77
Ah right cheers. Will I have to do that on my PC or on the PC downstairs?

Tomm
I use Azureus, I doubt I'm down with any kids though. ← Azureus is ok, but it's really resource intensive. Makes the internet go slow and makes the computer go even slower. I usually just leave it on when I go out so it's no big deal, but if you plan on using the computer while downloading, get something else. (Y) ← 6881 is the default port for Azureus and bittorrent, I think that's standard for any torrent software. And you caan legally download some Babyshambles stuff from the website, bittorrent isn't all porn and movies
Danny
Azureus is indeed very resource intensive because its java based. Although its the easiest to setup with a router because it only uses 2 ports. For an alternative i recommend ABC
